Tell me something. What screen resolution do you guys use? I recently bumped mine up to 1280x1024, and it took getting used to, but now I like it better. What I'd like is to get a sense of what most people viewing this site use. (This'll help me judge what I can and can't do on, for example, the front page.)

I use 1024x768, but that's mostly because my Dad also uses this computer and is can't see anything smaller...

I have absolutely no idea, but I recently increased it.

Hope that helped.

You know you can check these things, right? Your screen resolution doesn't just fade away, never to be remembered again. You're thinking of New Year's resolutions.

1024x768

(I tried to post just the quote and then it yelled at me, telling me my message was too short. Feh. Well, here. More text for you, you silly... silly... text whore.)

Same as you, Zeke-meister.

1280x1024.
I know, because it's getting damn annoying trying to resize 1024x768 wallpapers for this thing.

1024x768 -- I do most everything on my 12" iBook, which I take with me everywhere. My home and work PCs are set higher, but often when I'm here I'm on the iBook.

Well...

I use 1024x768 at work, and for all the desktop wallpapers I make...

But...

(and don't kill me)

I use 800x600 at home *runs and hides*

What can I say? I like things big? Ok... that's come out wrong xD

I have two monitors, one at 1024x768 and the other at 1152x864. However, Z, keep in mind that people use Explorer to browse and have that sidebar thing going on, so just because someone has a 1024 monitor doesn't mean they have 1024 pixels of screen space for 5M.net. Whatever your poll results are, I wouldn't design to that width -- I'd go at least one lower.

Good point, evay. Both my monitors at home and work run at 1280x1024, but while at work I run my browser window maximized, at home I run it in a smaller window. I know my wife also won't run any of her applications maximized.

My laptop (at work, but at home during the summer) is at 1280x800, and my desktop is at 1024x768.

And, as Derek said, I don't like to have to maximize my browser windows if I can help it.

On my laptop, 1024x768.

On my home PC, 1280x1024.

The screen resolution on this computer is 1152x864.

Why would this drone need a screen? I just route it in through my optical implant. Seriously, 1034 by 768. And, apparently, multiple monitors. (Huh? When did that happen?)

I had been using 1024x768. On the computer I'm using now, however, it's set at 800x600 -- I'll have to inquire about just why that is.

Ditto, 1024 X 768. By choice, actually, any more resolution and stuff either spills over the edges or the icons get REALLY tiny. I've found that sort of thing a lot, technology advancing faster than our ability to adjust.

1024x768, which is as high as this system will go. Stupid crappy awful IGP (which isn't even supported anymore, double blah). Can't even enable the lowest level of hardware acceleration either otherwise it's Blue Screen City.

1024x768.

It's a real pain when you're looking for a wallpaper.

And I have troubles when I can't maximize a window. I like 'em as big as they can get.

Oh my...

Are you kidding? I can't find wallpapers that aren't 1024x768.

Hejira

Link plz?

I either have to find a 1024 -

- okay, I understand where I screwed up. It's 1280x768, but I've had years with a 1024x768 reso that it's still not out of my fingers. Silly fingers.

So I have 1280x768, and I either have to find a 1024x768 wallpaper that looks good with pillarboxing, or a 1280x1024 wallpaper that has a bottom that's not significant. Most times I just give up and center a funny comic strip or something.

Most of my wallpapers are from one particular fandom that I'm not sure many people around here have much interest in. And I've never even seen a 1280x768. Doesn't that look a little stretched?

Hejira

Does widescreen TV look stretched?

MaverickZer0

To me? Yes. Yes, it does.

Hejira

Well, to me it looks awesome. As a computer monitor, though, it looks short.

Which is wrong, yet not. But it's the only LCD monitor I have, and I can sit on the other side of the room while using it.

Oh, occasionally I zoom in with Opera's zoom in thing, if that matters at all. It blows up the text as well as images.

So now my laptop is working again, and apparently I'm at 1280 x 800 resolution. Which, let me tell you, makes it difficult to find proper backgrounds...
