Forgive my ignorance, but are there any Banners or anything else that can be placed on another website (Like Myspace) to introduce the people to the wonderful world of Fiveminute.Net...? Apart from the address of course.

At one time, there existed some images of that sort, but that was before changes in host and board software -- not sure they're anyplace accessible at the moment. Zeke's probably got them stashed away somewhere.

Links page should still have some.

Yep. They're technically link buttons, but... hey, wait a minute. They also still say 5MV. Crap!

Okay, take a deep breathe. Just repeat the Webmaster Mantra.

"The site is fine. It will never be perfect. To err is human, and to glitch Microsoft's problem." :)

Funny enough, I only just noticed today that the site had changed to Five minute.net, from Five minute Voyager.
It's weird because I'm usually quite good at noticing thing aroun....
Holy Crap, Uhuras black!?

Yet it is still known in the hearts and minds of many as '5MV'. And so it shall be.

Oh yeah, I may have trained myself to use 5M.net when necessary, but 5MV will always have a place in my heart. Too bad it spends almost no time there, 'cause it also rents a place in the city. :)

Oh, and that's African-American. I always found that amusing. White people aren't really white and "black" people aren't really black. The Andorians were right in calling us pinkskins, too bad that'll never catch on.

Yeah, I recently realized "5M.net" has the disadvantage of providing no easy term for the fans. 5MVers works; 5M.netters doesn't.

And some groups have made a case (which I agree with, FWIW) for using "black" rather than "African-American." The latter term makes two implications that aren't necessarily true, and there's no parallel term for white people -- they're just Americans. "Black," on the other hand, is simple and accurate. There's further debate over capitalization, which is a harder sell, but does make sense in light of "Hispanic" and "Asian."

Oh, a specific term for fiver fans; I never thought about that one. I just always called them "fiver fans." Simple enough, right?

Actually, it just occurred to me that we could use the term "fivie." You know, to parallel the classic Trekker/Trekkie debate. We already use the term fiver, so use fivie to describe a fan of fivers.

how about "Fiver Junkies" ;)

I sort of attach a negative connotation to junkie and its derivatives. Still think fivie is neat.

How about 5MVers, like it's always been? I don't care how many times the url changes, (or how long I stay away) I'll always be a 5MVer.

MaverickZer0

Ditto to that. Even during 5MBSG I was a 5MVer.

Okay, who's going to make the official note for the ship's log?

Ashes to ashes,

I also attach a negative connotation to sucker, but I am tickled by the opportunity to cash in on an old cliche. "A sucker is born every five minutes." "A fiver sucker is born every hour, time-compressed."

Having gotten to the stage of having forked over money in relation to this place, I think that as far as I'm concerned the term "sucker" does indeed apply.

*has urge to make new banners/buttons saying 5M.net*

Besides the signed fiver thing, has there ever really been any money exchanged here?

I made these. Just for fun :P

You should add a motto or something to those.

"Fiving everything we can find since 20XX."
"To err is human. To five divine."
"Adding a bit of Gak to your lifestyle."
"Amusing Trekkies worldwide since 20XX."
"For when the real episodes aren't funny enough."

And so on.

Nice banners.

I miss "Because Trek is long and life is short." Whistful sigh. Yeah, yeah, I know we're about more than Trek now, but still...

I chipped in for the new forum software. I was expecting to get unlimited admin powers or some such, but no such luck. :(

Nice banners, Lexy. In fact I've updated the button on my deviantART page with yours.

I was thinking more along the lines of Gary Busey, myself.
