View Full Version : Avatars
Hey guys. One of the changes you'll have noticed in our new ikonBoard installation is that I've increased the maximum avatar size to 100 x 100. However, a lot of your avatars are still 64 x 64 and don't look good enlarged. You can change the size of your avatar from your control panel, but if you put it back to 64 x 64, it'll be smaller than the others. What do you think -- should I put the maximum size back to 64 x 64, or keep the 100 x 100 limit?
(Incidentally, before you ask, I still don't know how to make it so you can upload your own avatars again. I'm working on it.)[/color:post_uid0]

As long as you're able to put a sane bandwidth limit on them, I think 100 x 100 avs should be fine.[/color:post_uid14]
100x100 seems a sensible maximum limit. :D[/color:post_uid0]

Personally, I like 64x64 better. Somehow looks cleaner. Now there's a bigger chance of many different-sized avatars, which also doesn't look nice.
I don't [b:post_uid0]really[/b:post_uid0] mind, though.[/color:post_uid0]

As long as people don't abuse it with massive hideous avatars, i'm all for it.[/color:post_uid0]

Might as well keep it at 100 x 100 -- most seem to like it that way. I've already set mine down to 70 x 70. It just didn't look that hot in a larger size.[/color:post_uid0]

I like 100x100 - means I can now use all my 80x80 avs that I've created for TrekBBS if I so wish.[/color:post_uid0]

Oh, Zeke, THANK YOU!
Now I can use all the million and one avatars I created for LJ but couldn't use on this board because they were way too big!

Hehe. I just needed to find someone who had a webserver that would be reliable to host my avatars on. Now I can make my own with Photochop and change them at will. Currently.. my doggie ^_^ cause she's so cute.[/color:post_uid0]

Definitely in favor - beforehand this avatar came out too smushed. :D[/color:post_uid0]

They annoy the heck out of me, because they occasionally take up more space than their related posts. And perhaps because I don't have one.
How about a nice, round, 75x75? Or 25x175?[/color:post_uid0]

Is there a reason I can't download an Avatar from my computer? Or is it just a glitch?
I have some new good ones, is all.[/color:post_uid0]

I don't know why uploading avatars is disabled, and I don't know how to turn it back on. I'll talk to Owen about it today; maybe he can figure it out.[/color:post_uid0]
