Zeke again with the third day of Next Generation Week: TNG. Â Here's Five-Minute "Hollow Pursuits (../nextgen/hollowpursuits.html)," by Marc. Â (Hands up all who haven't noticed the pattern yet... yeah, that's what I thought.)

[Edit] Well, well! Looks like there's more to say today than I thought. I just recounted the Fiver By Author pages in About (../about) (the Stats links) and noticed that Marc now has 41 fivers -- which pulls him out in front of both IJD and Derek, who are tied at 40. Given the friendly rivalry the staff have had going for a while, this may not last long....[/color:post_uid0]

Barclay: Hah! Come one step closer and I shall skewer you like a cube of cheese, you dog![/quote:post_uid0]
:D I should've seen that one coming...

Funny stuff. Oh, and yeah, now that I look at it, I see the pattern. Heh.[/color:post_uid0]

As in Elbonia? Great stuff, Marc.

And Zeke, does this mean that TAS fivers aren't being counted as 0.5 anymore?[/color:post_uid0]

Yes, for two reasons: (1) I decided that was dumb because those fivers aren't much shorter on average, and (2) I noticed I'd already forgotten to count IJD's TAS fivers as 0.5, inflating his total.[/color:post_uid0]

I'm thinking: Elba, as in a place to keep Napoleon (or at least someone who might be crazy enough to [i:post_uid0]think[/i:post_uid0] he's Napoleon. :insert coo-coo smiley here: )

But yes, great stuff. :)[/color:post_uid0]

>> I'm thinking: Elba, as in a place to keep Napoleon <<

Yup, it's where Napoleon was first sent into exile, to get rid of him. There's a famous palindrome on this subject: "Able was I ere I saw Elba."[/color:post_uid0]

The Porthos tie-in was very amusing indeed.

Good job, Marc! :)[/color:post_uid0]

For the record, I was going to say "Oh, sure, exile the poor guy" before everyone beat me to it.

Well, you could transfer him to the USS[i:post_uid0]Elba[/i:post_uid0] until his next appearance and then send him to the [i:post_uid0]St. Helena[/i:post_uid0].[/color:post_uid0]
