And here's that socks-knocking update I promised. Remember Five-Minute [i:post_uid0]Star Trek: The Motion Picture[/i:post_uid0]? Tommy Kvarsvik of Star Trek Norge (http://www.startreknorge.com/) has actually done a [i:post_uid0]comic adaptation[/i:post_uid0] of it! There are two versions: one in Norwegian at the aforementioned site, and one in English here at 5MV. Now available for your viewing pleasure: Five-Minute [i:post_uid0]Star Trek: The Motion Picture[/i:post_uid0]: The Comic Adaptation (../startrek/tmpcomic1.html)! (Be warned that the image files are large.)[/color:post_uid0]

LMAO! Â That was [i:post_uid0]hilarious[/i:post_uid0]! Â Oh, I'm so doing that to some of the big upcoming fivers... if I can figure out how to do screenshots of avi files and/or dvds, that is....[/color:post_uid0]

Spectacular! :D

The lines in the fiver are great, however now with Kirk`s hilarious facial expressions (oh, and Spock`s too), they are priceless![/color:post_uid0]

That was the best thing I've seen on the internet since
the announcement about the return of [b:post_uid0]Farscape![/b:post_uid0]
:D
I sincerely hope we get to see a lot more of these
special comic book versions for s'more of the big
movie Fivers (and maybe a few of others too.)
[/color:post_uid0]

Well... next year will be here very soon, :)

Did Tommy say which fivers he`s planning to comic-adapt? Does he accept recommendations by any chance? I personally would LOVE to see Five-Minute "Scorpion" in a comic format. :D[/color:post_uid0]

Heck, [i:post_uid0]I'm[/i:post_uid0] interested in doing more of these. I'd say this could easily go overboard, but the suggestion of a visual Five-Minute "Scorpion" (or "The Best of Both Worlds") is daaaaamn tempting. :D[/color:post_uid0]

He hasn't said yet, but I'll convey your suggestion to him. Personally, I could really go for a comic-adapted [i:post_uid0]Enterprise[/i:post_uid0] fiver.[/color:post_uid0]

Any episode or a movie where something terribly dangerous happens would be [i:post_uid0]ideal[/i:post_uid0] for a comic adaptation. Scorpion, The Best of Both Worlds, Shockwave, Endgame, First Contact... So we could see the dead-serious faces of Janeway, Picard, Archer, while they`re saying the hilarious lines from the fivers... :D

(the mortified faces of the Enterprise bridge crew in [i:post_uid0]The Best of Both Worlds" [/i:post_uid0]when Locutus talks to them spring to mind...) :D :D[/color:post_uid0]

The one I'd want to see in BoBW is the "We seem to have reached an impasse" one between Riker and Shelby. Among others, of course... the "Was his face half-metal before?" and "Tea, Earl Grey, hot. --Dammit!" also come to mind.[/color:post_uid0]

A lot of these suggested scenes would probably be good T-shirt material too. :D Â Â ;)[/color:post_uid0]

It's worth the wait. I'm very glad to hear that there may
be another [b:post_uid0]5-Min Comic Book[/b:post_uid0] in 2004. That's also when
the 4-hour [b:post_uid0]Farscape[/b:post_uid0] series is going to be released.
:p
Can you tell that I have only one thing on my mind latetly?[/color:post_uid0]

The one thing is, every time I read a fiver, the mental image I get is of every character (except the one currently speaking) rolling their eyes in desparation.

Clearly, digital editing will be required for most scenes... ;)[/color:post_uid0]

Teasing people with abbreviation punnery... Bad Derek! :D :D

By the way, this wonderful comic adaptation of TMP fiver made me go to the videostore and rent Star Trek: The Motion Picture - The Director`s Edition DVD.

Wow! I never thought I`d see Kirk and Spock with special effects better than those on [i:post_uid0]Voyager[/i:post_uid0] or [i:post_uid0]Enterprise[/i:post_uid0]. I mean, the warp core on the NCC-1701 was at least 5 times cooler than Voyager`s.

And since I haven`t seen the movie for about 6, 7 years, I pretty much forgot much of it... And I had no idea how wonderful it is! All these years people were saying how boring it is, and I started thinking they`re right, but now... I think it has become my favourite TOS movie! :)[/color:post_uid0]
