Remember Wowbagger, who brought us [i:post_uid0]Star Trek: Armada[/i:post_uid0]? He's back, this time wielding a classic original Star Trek episode: The Devil in the Dark (../startrek/thedevilinthedark.html). Bring your own calculator.[/color:post_uid0]

Anyone else go looking for the footnote?

I don't think I quite understand why the Horta is speaking in Shakespeare, but it's close to midnight. These two statements may be connected.[/color:post_uid0]

My favorite parts were

[quote:post_uid0]Kirk: This is not a monster hunt. This is a... "fact-finding
mission." Now, where did I put my pitchfork?

...

Horta: (writes) "No Kill Pie." ...I mean, "I."
Kirk: I would never kill pie! It's so sweet and squishy....
Horta: No, "I." It says, "No Kill I."
Kirk: ...especially pecan pie. It has two words that start with "P", and -- I don't think it understands me, Spock. Analysis.
Spock: Its auditory membranes -- its ears -- have fallen off.
Kirk: Wait. Didn't that already happen?
Spock: Um... no?[/quote:post_uid0]

:D Â Great job with the recurring ear/pie/Shakespeare themes![/color:post_uid0]

Yay for TOS fivers!

Funny stuff, Wowbagger. I hope you do more.[/color:post_uid0]

47.<span style="text-decoration: overline">47</span>? Very nice. The pie/Shakespeare/ear was absurdly funny, though I'm surprised we didn't see a "Friend, Romans, Countrymen, lend me your ears" joke.[/color:post_uid0]

Arrgh, I thought I caught all of those.[/color:post_uid0]

All? It's pretty much "barely any"[/color:post_uid0]

Apparently my search and replace started from farther down the page than I thought. Or something like that. Besides, you don't know how many there were to start with. Shut up.

Anyway, it's fixed now. No more Powers of One.[/color:post_uid0]

Actually, it can only be apostrophes, right? I only saw a few real ones. I think.

*Shuts up*[/color:post_uid0]

[b:post_uid0]Redshirt 1:[/b:post_uid0] Let's split up.
[b:post_uid0]Redshirt 2:[/b:post_uid0] Brilliant plan!

Famous last words of any nameless character on TOS.

All of the pie references were wonderful too!
MMMmmmm... [i:post_uid0]pie.[/i:post_uid0] [b:post_uid0]drools[/b:post_uid0][/color:post_uid0]

My favourite scenes:

[quote:post_uid0]Vanderbilt: We've lost (7-2216)(-2/93.06) miners to the monster.
Kirk: You lost a decimal of a miner?
Vanderbilt: Can't you recognize a 47 reference when you see one?[/quote:post_uid0]

[quote:post_uid0]Spock: The monster is silicon-based life.
McCoy: I can understand life based on silicon, but silicon-based life is simply impossible!
Spock: (sigh)[/quote:post_uid0]

Very funny fiver! :D[/color:post_uid0]

Arggh! Â Why didn't I think of that?

Anyhow, a big thanks to IJD GAF for responding to my draft 285 days faster than Zeke, and making up for his own 69 day response time by getting the final draft up only 3 days after I sent it to him.[/color:post_uid0]

Actually, I was the one who did the HTML and posted it... did I make up for any of my 354-day response time? :D[/color:post_uid0]

[quote:post_uid0]However, I did update -- wait for it -- the Links section! No fooling! It's a small update, but given that I haven't even touched that section in over two years....[/quote:post_uid0]

I didn't even know we *had* a link section! :D[/color:post_uid0]

I did, but I haven't seen it for a while. What changed?[/color:post_uid0]

Zeke
02-09-2004, 11:23 PM
Until recently, it just said "This section isn't here yet. Stay tuned -- it'll show up soon." This was probably the canonical example of how I use the word "soon."[/color:post_uid0]

I'm running a little behind, but yeah, Wowbagger; good fiver. The whole thing, Shakespeare and all.[/color:post_uid0]
