Sorry about the missing update yesterday -- I had no Net access. Â But now I'm back with a fiver. Â Here's Next Gen's "The Perfect Mate (../nextgen/theperfectmate.html)," by Marc. Â (Every time I type that, I type "prefect" instead of "perfect" and have to backspace. Â Blame [i:post_uid0]Farscape[/i:post_uid0]'s "A Prefect Murder.")[/color:post_uid0]

There's only one problem with that fiver, though... it manages to not clearly include one of the key plot twists -- namely, that Kamara winds up bonding to Picard when she's supposed to bond to Alrik. ("I like who I am when I'm with you," or something to that effect.) Fortunately, though, she can still fake it. -- Pteryx[/color:post_uid0]

Heheh. That caught my eye right away. Then I spotted the "shades of gray" bit and at least one other title too. :)

[quote:post_uid0]Kamala: Will you visit me from time to time? We could listen to Mozart, make love, talk about archaeology....
Picard: Kamala, please stop doing this. There's only so much temptation a man can take.[/quote:post_uid0]
Heeheehee.[/color:post_uid0]

There's a total of five Star Trek titles in this one, which I think is the most I've ever used in a single fiver. :)[/color:post_uid0]

Great fiver, Marc. Though I can't help reading "Brian" whenever I see "Briam".

[quote:post_uid0]Briam: She also produces elevated levels of sexual pheromones. She should be kept away from your crew to avoid distracting them.
Picard: Perhaps that would be best. Commander Riker, please escort this lady to some guest quarters.
Riker: Hmm? I'm sorry -- did you say something, Captain uh...er....
Picard: The name's Picard.
Riker: Right. I knew that.[/quote:post_uid0]
Heh.[/color:post_uid0]

Hmm, I only caught four episode titles.
[quote:post_uid0]Picard: Was this the place that launched a thousand ships and burnt the topless towers of Ilium?
[/quote:post_uid0]Mr Marlowe, I presume?
[quote:post_uid0]Picard: You mean like King Charles the Third and Queen Camilla?
[/quote:post_uid0]Heh.
[quote:post_uid0]Kamala: I am for you, Alrik of Valt.
[/quote:post_uid0]I was expecting this line at Kamala's first appearance, for some reason, but you fooled me. ;)

There were at least a couple of other TOS references and the James Bond one, but if there was an X-Men quip in there, I missed it.[/color:post_uid0]

When you noticed the Goldeneye reference, did you also catch the part about Dr. Crusher's ThighMaster machine? I couldn't resist throwing that in. ;)

[quote:post_uid0]but if there was an X-Men quip in there, I missed it. [/quote:post_uid0]

Nope, I honestly forgot that she was in the X-Men films. In fact, I never saw either X-Men movie.[/color:post_uid0]

Very enjoyable fiver, Marc!

All my favorite quotes are gone already. I must admit I had to look "Ilium" up to get the penny to drop completely, as I had never heard the city called quite by that name before. A reference to an upcoming big movie as well as the original epic, maybe? Â :)[/color:post_uid0]

Yeah, caught that. I was trying to figure out where I'd seen a reference to it before, but haven't succeeded as yet.
[quote:post_uid0]In fact, I never saw either X-Men movie.
[/quote:post_uid0]
I've not seen them, either. I'm just remembering an episode discussion here back around the time the first X-Men movie was out -- someone expressed surprise that Famke Janssen had been in a Star Trek episode.
[quote:post_uid0]Though I can't help reading "Brian" whenever I see "Briam"
[/quote:post_uid0]Or, if you change another letter, it fits quite nicely with the "Ilium" line. ;)[/color:post_uid0]

Yup, I too was searching for the X-men reference :) When I saw the first X-men movie it was driving me crazy trying to figure out where I had seen "Jean Grey" before, I finally figured out after a quick IMDB search and had to watch my copy of the episode to confirm.

Great fiver of one of my favorite episodes of the series.[/color:post_uid0]

mudshark already mentioned it, but what the heck:

[quote:post_uid0]Picard: You mean like King Charles the Third and Queen Camilla?
Crusher: Exactly. [/quote:post_uid0]

BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Zeke is going to kill me, but it's worth it.[/color:post_uid0]

Wow! Great fiver! Favourite parts:

[quote:post_uid0]Computer: Warning -- ambient temperature levels approaching the combustion point of Starfleet uniform material.
Riker: Computer, disengage internal sensors in this room, authorization Riker Theta Omicron Sigmmm...mmmmh...uhmmm....
[/quote:post_uid0]

[quote:post_uid0]Beverly: Why so gloomy, Jean-Luc? Are you growing attached to Kamala?
Picard: Yes, and I'm having trouble picturing what she'll transform into once she finally meets the Chancellor.
Beverly: From what I've seen of Alrik, my guess would be a cross between a stockbroker and a bureaucrat.
Picard: Oh, thanks a million for that particular image. [/quote:post_uid0]

[quote:post_uid0]Briam: Even an elderly man like me finds it hard to resist Kamala's charms. I am perplexed at how you managed to do so.
Picard: Please keep your insinuations to yourself, Ambassador. I already get enough of those whenever Q drops by for a visit.
Briam: Q? Q who?
Picard: He's an omnipotent being.
Briam: I wish I could still say the same for myself. Ah, to be young again....
[/quote:post_uid0]

Along with many jokes quoted already...

Marc`s sophisticated-yet-ludicrously-funny writing style never fails to crack me up. He is like "Yes (Prime) Minister", that seems like a theatrical play but is the most deliriously funny comedy TV series I`ve ever seen, :D

EDIT - PHJ, my friend, it was nice knowing you... :D[/color:post_uid0]

I wish the YPM DVD's would hurry up and come out for Region 2. At the moment it's only YM (and I still need to get series three as well).

And, remarkably, I still seem to be intact.

I love famous last words.[/color:post_uid0]

And I found that scene hilarious too. In a terrifying, disturbing way.[/color:post_uid0]

They show it on UK Gold, but there's always someone wanting to watch something else. That of course is if I remember that its on in the first place.
