Today is a big day for one of 5MV's staff. Derek Dean, our newest but most absurdly prolific recruit, has hit the 47-fiver mark, and he wanted it to be with something special. What he wrote was an amazing trilogy of fivers for the most confusing and best-loved time-travel movies ever. Without further ado: The Back to the Future Trilogy (../scifivers/5mbttf.html), by Derek.[/color:post_uid0]

And I've only just read the first. Man, is there a Streethawk reference in there somewhere? If there is, you will get a whole lot of obscurity points from me, Derek.

Either way, extremely good fiver. And I still have two ahead of me...

Nope. Unfortunately I'm not familiar with Streethawk.

Yay! I hit 47 fivers!

Oh and Zeke, I was rolling when I read:

And it gave me an excuse to link more people to this site![/color:post_uid0]

Just a question, is the horse's "Nay" a reference to Lord Midnight, or something else?

I'm just asking about Streethawk because Chris Lloyd played the baddie in the pilot episode. He drove a big bad black SUV, if I recall correctly. Do not despair, I didn't believe it myself until I acquired a video and got visual confirmation.

Just saying that a quick ref would have been the epitome of 80s geekiness. In any event, excellent work!

Way too much to quote here  , but I especially got a kick out of the running gags, the Kruge stuff, and this:
[quote:post_uid0]Doc: With Clara. We spent the whole night talking until a bear came and ate us.
Tombstone: That doesn't really make sense.
Doc: Oh shut up. You're just the tombstone in the photograph. What would you know?
Marty: Hey, check out the photograph. Your name's been erased. And in its place is... pepperoni?
Doc: Now that's what I want on my tombstone![/quote:post_uid0]
Great blurbs too! :D[/color:post_uid0]

Unfortunately I'm unfamiliar with that reference, so no, it's not.

The "Nay" joke was simply a play on the fact that horses say "Neigh", and also a setup to the "get back on the horse" line in the next scene.

I'm glad everyone's been liking them. It was fun trying to write three fivers at the same time.[/color:post_uid0]

I haven't had a chance to read the fivers yet, but a colleague of mine at work told me it was full of great time-travel references I wouldn't catch because he knows what programs and films I haven't seen -- and that includes all but the last 30 minutes of BTTF III. :)

[quote:post_uid0]I'm just asking about Streethawk because Chris Lloyd played the baddie in the pilot episode. He drove a big bad black SUV, if I recall correctly.[/quote:post_uid0]

Funny, he's not listed in the credits on the Internet Movie Database. I saw the Streethawk pilot back in 1985, and it was pretty silly. It includes such choice dialogue as: "This advanced combat motorcycle can reach 300 MPH." "Just how am I supposed to drive through city traffic at 300 MPH without an accident?" "It's computer-assisted!" "Oh." (The trouble is, this dialogue was meant to be taken seriously.)

Congratulations on hitting the big 47, Derek![/color:post_uid0]

[quote:post_uid0]Marty: Check it out. I've got a new truck, a new life, a new girlfriend....
Jennifer: New girlfriend?
Marty: Well, there is something different about you. I just can't put my finger on it.
Jennifer: If you're not careful, you'll put your foot in it.[/quote:post_uid0]

New actress?

[quote:post_uid0]George: (in the background) How about a nice Hawaiian punch?[/quote:post_uid0]

Nothing beats a good running gag.

[quote:post_uid0]Marty: You know, now that these movies are over, I'm feeling much more animated.[/quote:post_uid0]

I remember that show. They had poor old Christopher Lloyd doing science demos after each commercial break. Didn't he have a career at one point?

Impressive job. A magnificent octopus (quiet, Nic).[/color:post_uid0]

Yeah, they switched from Claudia Wells in the first one to Elisabeth Shue in the last two. It took me a very long time to realize that though since when I first watched it, I was too young to note the difference.

(And yes, sadly, it was intentional that the actress whose last name is Shue tells Marty that he might put his foot in it.)[/color:post_uid0]

(how about publishing trilogies in the span of 3 days? yes, I KNOW I once suggested 3-fivers-in-a-day, but, hmm... very exhausting) :D :D

And the fivers...

HILARIOUS :D :D :D

I`d post favourite parts, but we`re talking about 6 fivers worth of material here, :D Not posting 25 scenes, :p

Great work, Derek. Thanks to you I`m renting those three movies as soon as possible, to enjoy them again, :D
