Ouch.

First it was hitting the Tampa Bay area -- which wouldn't have done too much damage to my area (Polk County), but enough.

Then it headed straight for us. Even though we're in the middle of the state, it was a category four hurricane (winds about 10 miles per hour slower than the infamous Andrew), and had winds around 100 miles per hour still by the time it reached my area. Fortunately for me anyway, it left the northwest part of the county largely okay. Still, that was pretty damned close.

Though I doubt this extends to anyone here, I still extend condolences to everyone who wasn't so lucky.

....And I want to live in Florida?

Mind...hurricanes or earthquakes?

Come live in New England, the only thing we have to deal with is ice storms. :P And yeah, we get the occasional hurricane. But they're mostly dead by the time they reach us and don't do much damage.

Speaking as someone who's also been on the receiving end of nature's contempt for upstart monkeys, it's good to hear your house is still standing. I know it feels like shameful joy that you came through unscathed and so many others didn't, but...I don't really know how to end this sentence.

Clearly a Xindi plot.
