At least his ashes are being sent into space!

He'll be in good company - John Meredyth Lucas' ashes will be on the same rocket.
RIP, Mr Doohan. :(

Sadly, it's not terribly surprising, but it's a loss nonetheless.
Let's hope he's having happier days than the Alzeimer filled ones he's left behind.
RIP

I've seen a couple of nice memorial things from userfriendly comic strip on Sunday (July 24th) and Adult Swim did a blurb of just John Doohan and then his date of birth and date of death.
It was nice.

Is it bad that I don't feel all that badly about it?
Not really. If you don't know much about someone, there's no reason you should feel more than the standard sympathy for a fellow human being's death. Take Princess Diana, for example. So many people were devastated when she died, but she was only a name to me. The same week, however, Mother Theresa died, and that meant a lot to me.
We don't have time to care about everyone whose name we know. That's nothing to be ashamed of. Now cheering when someone dies -- THAT'S something to be ashamed of. We saw a lot of that with the Pope a while ago. But not "feeling bad enough" is perfectly normal.

Besides, he lived a full life and left an impressive legacy. In addition, he was afflicted with Alzheimer's towards the end, so he's not suffering any more. It's sad, yes, but not a tragedy.

I felt the same as Vedra feels now when DeForrest Kelly died
