Greetings, 5MDW writers and readers:

The lovely and talented Derek Dean has added 5MDW to his online reservation system (http://dadean.org/Fivers/uncalled.jsp?section=10), which is already in use for Smallville, DS9 and Babylon 5. Since this is a lot less cumbersome than the Excel file I was using to keep track of 40 years of Doctor Who stories (we're up to 187 serials, of which 57 have been reserved and 20 published), Derek's online system will now be how 5MDW is reserved.

This system is a snap to use. The basic idea, for those who haven't visited, is that you log in, reserve episodes you want to write, write them, and then submit them to me using the submit feature on the site. The system gives you a certain amount of time to write the fiver and then your reservation expires, but you can renew ageing reservations if you want.

Anyone who has already reserved a 5MDW fiver should find their reservation has been loaded into the system. If you've logged into Derek's site before, your reservation will be in your profile. If you've never logged in, go to the login page (http://dadean.org/Fivers/login.jsp) and enter your email address to gain easy access.

For details about how the reservation system works, go here (http://dadean.org/Fivers/help.jsp). For the forum thread in which Derek introduced the system, go here (http://www.fiveminute.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=940). If you want to know more about 5MDW, go to the FAQ here (http://www.fiveminute.net/about/5mdw.html) or message me here (http://www.fiveminute.net/forums/privmsg.php?mode=post&u=89). Site submissions guidelines apply and can be found here (http://www.fiveminute.net/about/submissions.html).

Thanks again to Derek for his willingness to extend his invention into the unruly universes of 5MDW.
