I am not, nor have I ever been, a transvestite.

Jason: (over the phone) Hello, Lana. I'm just calling to say that I'm definitely not in China.
Lana: I hadn't suspected you were.
Jason: Good.
Lana: Though now I do.
Jason: Whoops.

Uh...Will the number '7' suffice?

So, how long have you been causing these delusions in people?

Vedra
01-18-2006, 07:23 PM
I'll have none of that sass outta you, Zeke! Don't make me take you out to the woodshed!

People just seem to be confused by my female avatars. I wanted to clear up the fact that I'm a guy, and that I don't crossdress or even cybercrossdress (where you pretend to be the opposite gender online).

Chancellor Valium

cybercrossdress (where you pretend to be the opposite gender online).

Now that's just odd.

Vedra
01-18-2006, 07:43 PM
It happens, Valium, believe me.

Chancellor Valium
01-18-2006, 07:52 PM
I've seen it.

Of course not literally.

It's slightly disturbing, and can make talking to others online distinctly difficult. Or indistinctly.

Funny, that... :P

Maybe there's a mod that zeke could add that would allow us to add our gender to that list of info under our avs, i've seen that at some forums.

Zeke
01-18-2006, 09:01 PM
Indeed, I wanted to install one, but on googling I discovered that a security hole caused by the most common gender mod had recently been found... and they didn't say which gender mod that was. However, I think I now understand phpBB well enough to code for genders myself. Look for that next time I work on the forums.

I see three google results talking about a vulnerability, and two of them are from 2002.

The other one confusingly has the current date at the top, and no other dates available.

Nope.

Never.

I think we should leave genders ambiguous. It makes things more of a minefield for new members

Aside from the actual one, that is

Brittney (Britney?) in Hotaru's avitar

Britney's success has actually remained fairly high. The problem is popular radio's reluctance to play her music, and poor managing.

Take for example the song Someday. Someday was released as a video and had a good reception. Then 3 months after the video peaked in popularity, they released the single. People had forgotten about it.

Also, only recently has the billboard top 100 started counting digital downloads. For songs like My Prerogative and I've Just Begun digital downloads were most of the singles sales. On iTunes My Prerogative hit #2, and I've Just Begun reached #4. With the advent of counting digital downloads Britney's song Do Somethin' (a personal favorite of mine) was able to reach #100 on the US billboard charts due to the fact that it reached #49 on the digital downloads charts, despite the fact that the video and single were never released in the US.

Britney's popularity has dropped in the past few years, however she is still more popular than most non-fans believe.

She should still dump Kevin though.

Well, that leaves one question: Why is she grinning in a vaguely provocative way in your avatar?

Just curious.

Vedra

Date you? Oh. I thought you were gay. My bad. I figured a lot of the guys on the internet that had girl avatars were gay (like me, for example.)

Considering that they're married, breaking up would be a bit bigger than just "dumping" him. Especially since he's the father of her child and all.

Not that I'm particularly fond of Federline. I'm just sayin'.

Perhaps, but not to Hotaru.

(And marrying a celebrity is enough to make you one. The set of celebrities is closed under matrimony.)

Thinking about it, in a computer game if I ever get to choose which character to be, I always seem to pick the female ones. I never noticed it until a friend pointed it out.
I have no wish to be a woman.

whoiam
02-12-2006, 06:43 PM
In online games, at least, that's usually because other players tend to be nicer to girls.

In offline ones where the pc has a voice and insists on using it, it's because you'd rather listen to a girl all game then to some bloke with a hero complex.

In BG2, it's because you've installed the Chloe mod and want to see if the lesbian romance is worth all the fuss.

Actually, I included her just to hear Minsc misunderstanding the meaning of the word "lesbian".

Chancellor Valium
02-12-2006, 06:59 PM
I tend to play as a man. Maybe that's because I prefer immersion.

Burt
02-12-2006, 07:48 PM
I like non-stereotypes. I like strong female leads. I think thats why I like Buffy so much. Yeah, yeah a man can always come and save the day, but isn't it more intresting when it's a woman. Storm, T'pol, Seven, Emma Peel. When a woman beats the crap out of the baddie and saves everyone, it's just more worth it!

Zeke
02-12-2006, 08:51 PM
Yeah, yeah a man can always come and save the day, but isn't it more intresting when it's a woman.

Inherently? No. Besides, the "cliché-busting" female day-saver is herself a cliché now.

What we need, obviously, is a hermaphrodite hero.

Well, there is in Starfleet Corps of Engineers ebook series. Bart Faullwell, the team's translator and linguist. However, both of these are outside of the canon universe.
