Also, you might recognize the forum style since it is what we use here.

Bah. I like the old garfield.

For some strange reason I liked it from the beginning.

Perhaps a bit less of Jon responding to garfield's thoughts, and more of him getting odd looks from garfield (Heck, a lot of it's actually pretty funny when done right.)

Like the snowmen from heck garfield occasionally errects on the lawn...

This was a neat idea.

Heh, you wouldn't need to change today's garfield.

That's got to suck, a spider tied to a ballon by it's own silk...

This all reminds me of the Garfield Randomizer, something Owen introduced me to years ago when we were still at 3Sygma. It was a page that could pick Garfield panels at random and make a strip out of them. Owen's contention, which I agreed with, was that Garfield took on a real Zen quality if you randomized only the third panel. (In other words, Jon Stewart wouldn't have found it Zen-like at all. ZENG!)

Unfortunately, the page has been shut down by a cease-and-desist order from the syndicate. The best I can do is link you to this blog post (http://www.videocrab.com/2006/01/garfield-randomizer.html), where you can download a zipfile of 50 strips produced by the Randomizer.

*rubs eyes* Ouch, it sure has. It was a mistake to click the link to it. Guh, my eyes.

At least it gave a warning that it could induce seizures. Too bad I didn't stick around long enough to see what was actually on the page now.

I've always kinda liked Garfield, but it never had enough depth for me. Which brings me to Calvin and Hobbes.
Is it me? Or are they just simply fantastic?

I don't know, when it's Sunday morning and you wake up exhausted at 9 AM, is depth really necessary? :P

True.

I'm still indebted to KGM for introducing me to Pork Factor Nine, which I now can't find...

Yeah. It was good while it lasted, 'though.
