Oh, boy, the next Nintendo console...

From the way the press releases sound, Nintendo isn't even keeping it's head above water making Revolutions. Think about it, if they were really together than scalpers wouldn't be making oodles of money on the secondary market, would they?

Of course, where can Nintendo go now with a new console anyway? Of course even they have to admit that graphics somewhere on par with their contemporaries is a must, as TV technology increases by leaps and bounds. One innovation that comes to mind is some kind of sensor system. Couldn't they invent a set of wireless sensors to attach to your hands, feet, and head to sort of take the Wiimote to the next level? Make a motion as if you're turning your head to the right, and the camera moves to the right. Run in place, and your character moves faster. The hand sensors would let you make karate chops and your character would do the same. Or you could balance a virtual basketball on your finger. Or put a hand to your forehead and the camera would zoom in on the background, enabling you to "see" farther. Heck, hear an enemy behind you and make a backhanded punch. I love seeing backhanded punches. :)

If they can make the Wii remote, then I don't see it being too hard to make that sort of setup.

Is the playstation likely to bring out a remote-like system? I really prefer Playstation to Nintendo. (*ducks rotten fruit*).

Does anyone here HAVE a Playstation 3 for that matter? Was it worth the prohibitive cost?

Nate the Great 01-05-2008 10:22 PM

Yeah, but which Playstation do you prefer to which Nintendo? This isn't like the OLD days when a person was a Nintendo person or a Sega person and ne'er the twain shall meet.

PS2 > any Nintendo home console I have so far played (having not yet actually played the Wii). What's the appropriate acronym? IMHO?

I don't count the hand held games (DS, Game Boy, PSP, etc.) in this assessment.

Nate the Great 01-15-2008 05:26 AM

Whoa. Haven't seen IMHO for awhile. I don't even think I've ever used it, probably 'cause when it comes to opinions, I'm rarely humble. ;)

PointyHairedJedi 01-17-2008 08:32 PM

Verily, it is so.

Nate the Great 01-17-2008 11:10 PM

Well, at least you're honest. ;)

PointyHairedJedi 01-18-2008 11:04 AM

Oh, and your taste in socks is attrocious. :p

Nate the Great 01-18-2008 10:39 PM

(blink blink) That's random...

PointyHairedJedi 01-23-2008 11:42 AM

It's my stock non-insulting insult. I don't get to use it very often though.

So now that Brawl is out (or nearly out, or whatever), what's the next killer app?

Wowbagger 03-13-2008 03:54 AM

Brawl.

Srsly, we're talking about Wii here. As a proud Wii owner myself, my advice is to enjoy SSB and to not hold your breath.

Also, PHJ spelled "atrocious" wrong. Neener neener.

I'm sure that there was an evil purpose to it; there always is, with him.

Nate the Great 03-13-2008 10:58 PM

Which reminds me, I was at my local Target today. The console being sold out was to be expected, but there was still a copy of Brawl. I couldn't help but remark, "that's odd..."

Oh, and seeing a copy of Phantom Hourglass reminded me that I wanted to ask you guys if that game was any good.

It's like 'ZIING!', in that the extra 't' denotes extra atrociousness. For instance, I would classify this very explanation as being attrocious. ;)

Real Life's Take on the Name "Wii"

Yes, I'm beating a dead horse. Yes, you hate me for obsessing on this issue. Yes, a million other things. Whatever.

PointyHairedJedi 04-02-2008 04:40 PM

You're sailing dangerously close to spam with these. :p

Nate the Great 04-02-2008 07:17 PM

Well, as long as I don't actually land on the Island of SPAM, I think I'll be okay. :)

ijdgaf 04-14-2008 08:48 AM

splat.

Nate the Great 04-18-2008 12:51 PM

Oh, I totally forgot. Last week a store had THREE consoles just sitting there. Given that it was (I think) Thursday, they must've been there a few days at least. Are we finally past the hump?
