Long story short: Someone dies, and a Wikipedia editor invents a quote from the deceased. This fake quote is used in newspapers around the world. No citation was offered or sought. Sheesh, you'd think people would know to double-check facts for newspaper articles.

Archie to finally choose between Betty and Veronica? That'll end well. Incidentally, one online poll is 80% in favor of Betty. What a shock.

Randomguy puts the Marvel and DC characters into a spoof of Star Trek 11. From the studio that brought you I'm A Marvel and I'm a D.C.!

A compilation of LOLCatz set to "What's New Pussycat?" How long can YOU hold out before the cuteness overloads your brain?

I love that latest Wikipedia hoax. The site is enormously useful, but that seems to make us increasingly blind to its severe limitations.

Speaking of vision, here are the three winners of a recent optical illusion contest, including one which may explain why curve balls look curvier from the batter's point of view.

One of my favorites. Full props to the Nostalgia Critic and all of his cronies. Watch Linkara's review of Star Trek #1 (a comic set after Wrath of Khan), it's great.

A flash game parodying The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. Will Anju shoot the real Kafei, or Link pretending to be Kafei? Or will she take the epic third option?

I didn't know about this one. A guy on Who Wants to Be A Millionaire wins with style; using his phone lifeline to tell his dad that he's about to win.

MaverickZer0 08-28-2009 11:13 AM

Now that guy is just classy. I love his tone when he's doing it.

"Hey dad, I don't really need your help. Just wanted to tell you I'm about to win the million."

*ten solid seconds of cheering ensues*

At first scan, it looks like a videogame enthusiast / video journalist being interviewed about the future of videogames and videogame programming. But you could probably guess that as well as I could with my limited Spanish.

Funny shirts from CafePress. I'm not affiliated; I'm not encouraging purchases in any way. Some favorite punchlines:

Come to the Dark Side; we have milk and cookies.
I refuse to have a battle of wits with an unarmed person.
Cleverly disguised as a responsible adult.
Yet, despite the look on my face, you're still talking.
I'm ashamed of what I did for a Klondike Bar...
Resistance is not futile (Omega=V/I) It's voltage divided by current.
Silence is golden. Duct tape is silver. (Duct tape covers smiley face's mouth)
W.W.S.D. What would Scooby Doo?
I'm smiling. That alone should scare you.

And that's just from the first twenty pages!

I've been a fan of How It Should Have Ended for a long time, but their latest video is just great. The Terminators have decided to ensure victory by killing the creator of time travel: Dr. Emmett Brown. How will Marty ensure the eventual victory of the human race over the machines?

Someone makes himself a Dr. Octopus Halloween costume for Halloween, complete with a Spider-Man dummy captured by two tentacles hanging overhead. I only wish I had the patience and dedication (and budget!) to put together a costume like that.

NAHTMMM 10-09-2009 11:54 PM

I guess no one's posted the technabob blog yet. For a blog focusing on gadgets and general nerdiness, it has a lot of variety.

A woman dies in her apartment and nobody bothers to check up on her for 42 years? Um, what? Nobody noticed? Her landlord, her employer, her relatives? Was someone paying rent for all that time?

Cooking for Those Who Can't Cook. Um, yeah....

So this guy expects us to make roasted chicken with NO culinary skills? Okay, that sounds like SUCH a good idea.

Is there really nothing simpler that he could ease people into? Pasta? Peppered steak? Heck, how about a salad?

Target stops distribution of a "Illegal Alien" costume. I can see the violation of political correctness, but I also think it's quite a funny sight gag.

A woman orders McNuggets at McDonald's. They are temporarily out of McNuggets. They will not refund the money, but instead suggest a substitution. She calls 911.

Okay, yes, she overreacted, but I would also expect the person at the counter to know there aren't McNuggets right now and thus not take her money in the first place. Seriously, there's a policy that says you can't refund the money in a situation like this? Who thought that up?
