NAHTMMM 08-24-2004 01:07 PM

Thanks for the link, mudshark :D

Zeke 08-24-2004 06:37 PM

That was hysterical. Thanks, Shark.

Nan 08-24-2004 07:34 PM

It... hurts....!

Sa'ar Chasm 08-24-2004 08:27 PM

I can't finish that. It hurtses me eyeballs, yes, precious.

It looks like the usual witty repartee one finds on an online gaming server.

They got it down pat, all right!

Draknek 08-24-2004 09:04 PM

That was... painful.

Incidentally, this piece of madness my friends and I cooked up seems on-topic.

Saxamaphone 08-24-2004 09:39 PM

I think that gave me a hrt atax0r - at least I think - I don't have my l33t to English dictionary handy.

Drak - I'm liking how Gimli made the credits. He'll get his due yet.

Vedra 08-24-2004 11:42 PM

That pwned...I mean...It was funny! It wasn't hard to read either...but maybe it's because I've played everquest for so long.

taya17 08-25-2004 09:13 AM

Screw the 1337-- what language is that? The one with all the umlauts, of course. It looks so... interesting...

catalina_marina 08-25-2004 10:19 AM

^German?

Draknek 08-25-2004 10:35 AM

The domain is .to, which is apparently for Tonga.

They apparently speak Tongan there.

Whether that's what they're actually speaking, of course, is unknown.

Sa'ar Chasm 08-25-2004 02:03 PM

It looked Finnish to me. Apparently Tonga's a long-lost colony of Finland.

mudshark 08-25-2004 05:31 PM

The language is indeed Finnish (Suomeen?)

Tonga (.to), like Tuvalu (.tv), cashed in their domain address extension chips fairly early on.

Opium 08-25-2004 06:23 PM

That was, erm, interesting, it's like a bad only fanfic story, only funny!

Nic Corelli 08-26-2004 04:39 AM

It`s funny... but also demented... but also, funny... but also... :D :D :D

Ah, Finnish. I *thought* it looked like a Nordic language, but I too looked at .to and thought maybe it was some funny Mauritian language or the other.

I thought .tv stood for Tivioli or something? My friend said it was some small fishing island with a population of like 200 whose major export was the domain name .tv..... *dunno*

Nic Corelli 08-27-2004 05:42 AM

Will you start learning Finnish now? I hear it`s five times more complicated than Croatian.

catalina_marina 08-27-2004 10:32 AM

Ah, but not nearly as interesting now, is it? :D

Finnish isn't Nordic, except by courtesy. The Finns hacked their way off the steppe into Europe along with the Estonians and Hungarians. Those three languages aren't even Indo-European.

Tuvalu. Collection of bits of coral strung out along half the Pacific. Gonna be awash when the ice caps melt. Tivoli is a computer-related company that a friend of mine works for in Texas.

This pontification brought to you by the letters e, g, o and the number i. May contain nuts.

Also a large garden or park in Copenhagen.

Ginga 08-27-2004 05:49 PM

Well, I know l33t, but I would probably understand this better if I'd actually read the book.

mudshark 08-27-2004 09:27 PM

^ Possibly, but it's pretty obviously referring to the movie. If you've seen that, you should be okay.

I always said I'd read the book before the movie.
