Website design

hello everyone

my uncle wants to make a website that is supposed to look quite professional, I want to help him with it....

now I ask you all to tell me what programs (especially freeware) you use to design your websites (okay not only freeware  )

I would be glad if I get a few tips from you....because your sites look really good

thx to everyone

I hand code, but they look bad.

I must confess that the only web pages I've ever created have all been in FrontPage. In other words, I'm an even worse n00b than you. :D

Dreamweaver. Especially version 8 - graphically done pages in your choice of html, php, jscript, coldfusion, etc, etc. Probably the best 'sitemaker' app I've ever tried to use. There's a free trial available from Macromedia, although it's a nice hefty download.
