Hey guys, I'm just wondering.. has any of you tried to upload a fiver on my five minute exosite? It was for an episode called "Baby Don't Swear and Spread Rumours" (silly title I know :D ). I do have an email address and name, I just can't remember it and I can't log in to my mail account right now

Ok carry on..[/color:post_uid0]

Sorry for stealing your thread...but how come I cant just upload an avatar from my computer anymore? How can I upload my avatar back so it isnt just a square with a little red 'x' ? :(
EDIT: got it again, hope I wont lose it again![/color:post_uid0]

PointyHairedJedi 04-26-2004 10:41 AM

The upload avatar feature seems to have been disabled. Whether it's just while the forums are being tweaked, or it's permenant, only Zeke could say.[/color:post_uid0]

Erg, oh well, I had it for a while by going through geocities, but now it wont show again, and I cant seem to get my avatar on to the avatar list... some people seem to have thiers through 5mv's site.

EDIT okay now my avatar is working again... I think it's being silly. Maybe it's like John! Or Top Hat Man! [i:post_uid0] "OH NO MY AVATAR HAS BECOME MY CREATION![/i:post_uid0] :p

*erg* well, I have to open the page each time to get my avatar to work. What's going one?[/color:post_uid0]

If you're remote linking the thing from Geocities, it won't work because Geocities is an ass and doesn't allow remote loading; it will allow you to load the image once or twice before it wises up and blocks it... try using one of those image hosting sites like VillagePhoto. Bandwidth is an ass, though.

Yes, Zeke, what [i:post_uid0]did[/i:post_uid0] happen to our avatar uploading capabilities, anyway? :D[/color:post_uid0]

Gatac 04-27-2004 04:30 AM

Well, a *very* intermediate solution (which I'm using right now) is running a web server on my own computer and using a dynamic DNS link service to get a stable address for it. It's not a perfect solution, but since I'm running it anyway, I could temporarily host a few more images of avatar size without problems.

Opium 04-27-2004 06:43 AM

Doh! I went to VillagePhoto and then say this message:[quote:post_uid0]External linking (hotlinking) has been temporarily disabled for free accounts while we await hardware and infrastructure upgrades. [/quote:post_uid0]

Oh well, the search continues...
so Gatac, if we cant find another way, can we email you the pic or could you go to my page which is: http://www.geocities.com/poppyseedstuff/pss_page.html
It's the only pic on the page, the painting.

EDIT: Went to photobucket, will see how well that site works :)[/color:post_uid0]

So I take it no one has uploaded a fiver to my site then :D[/color:post_uid0]

In case you still need it, sorry for not seeing it earlier.

I have my own question:

Does anyone else get told they're trying to download something when they go to www.fiveminute.net?[/color:post_uid0]

PointyHairedJedi 05-02-2004 01:31 PM

Sounds like you've picked up some spyware. You need to go and download Ad-Aware and Spybot Search and Destroy. Those'll find most spyware and adware between 'em.[/color:post_uid0]

Celeste 05-02-2004 03:36 PM

Well they don't get everything. I have this spyware that makes popups that will not remove itself from my computer ::shakes her head:: not sure how to get it off and keep it off.[/color:post_uid0]

PointyHairedJedi 05-02-2004 07:22 PM

I think that would require delving into your registry, but you'd have to ask someone more knowledgable than I.[/color:post_uid0]
