Well, here's what Tim Goodman of the [i:post_uid0]Chronicle[/i:post_uid0] has to say about it. (He seems to like it a lot, and that can be a good sign, quality-wise.) Not having cable, I probably won't be seeing much of the show, but it looks interesting, if you're into offbeat.

Regarding what kind of network Showtime might be: for many years, they were more or less indistinguishable from HBO. The latter has upped the ante more recently with [i:post_uid0]The Sopranos[/i:post_uid0] and such. Looks like Showtime is trying for a piece of that pie.[/color:post_uid0]

Well, it's not what I expected, but I really like it from what I saw in the premier :)[/color:post_uid0]

I forgot this thread even existed.

Anyway, I've been watching [i:post_uid0]Dead Like Me[/i:post_uid0] and I think it's great. I saw "Sunday Mornings" begin this week. Unbelievable how it was recorded two months ago. :eyeroll:[/color:post_uid0]

What?! They show it in Holland but not in Canada? it was *filmed* in Canada!

If I actually wanted to watch it, I might get ticked off.

*muttermuttermutter*

Anyway...the scene where the female lead and her boytoy walk upstairs past two people struggling with a shopping cart full of keg is the scene I watched. It's right down the hall from where I work.[/color:post_uid0]

Nan 08-28-2003 07:29 PM

Hey, dude: Stargate is filmed here too, and I'd be a year behind if it werent't for my prolific infopir--er, [i:post_uid0]internet investigation[/i:post_uid0]....

Good times.

Of course not doofus. They don't show squat in the Netherlands. There is this thing called internet... And of course the fast connection to it my brother has at school. :D

Also, boytoy? Mason? Interesting word to describe him. :p[/color:post_uid0]

Sa'ar Chasm 08-28-2003 08:45 PM

*chagrined*

See folks, this is what happens when you jump to conclusions. You look like a gibbering idiot.

[quote:post_uid0]Also, boytoy? Mason?[/quote:post_uid0]

I know next to nothing about the show, except that they walk up stairs together and he says "So, mission accomplished?" over and over again until the director is satisfied.

I also saw the actor kiss the actress on the cheek, but I think they were just goofing around.[/color:post_uid0]

[quote:post_uid0="Sa'ar Chasm"]Showtime doesn't broadcast in Canada...and they refuse to let non-Americans view the website. Â What kind of screwed-up network is this? Â If they showed decent programming, I might actually get incensed.[/quote:post_uid0]
Yeah, I also think it's rather screwed-up they don't allow non-Americans to view their site. Well, if you want to see their site on Dead Like Me, try here. I'm not sure how it works, but I think it has babelfish translate English to English or something. I got it from some guy on IRC I think. Anyway, it accesses sho.com from altavista.com, which is in America :).

Also, I'd like to mention that Dead Like Me is a great show, and if you get a chance: watch it! (I'm abovementioned brother :D)[/color:post_uid0]

Do you *have* to rub it in? ;)

[quote:post_uid0]I also saw the actor kiss the actress on the cheek, but I think they were just goofing around.[/quote:post_uid0]
I think so too. I don't think George (the girl) would allow it. :)[/color:post_uid0]

Speaking of "Dead," is the forum dead this weekend or what?[/color:post_uid0]

taya17 09-01-2003 02:50 AM

Well I spent half of it in school and half of it watching B5so I wasn't posting very much. ;)[/color:post_uid0]

catalina_marina 09-01-2003 10:04 AM

I noticed the same thing, about yesterday anyway. I'm not sure about the rest of the weekend.[/color:post_uid0]

mudshark 09-01-2003 09:57 PM

For the Americans, at least, this has been Labor Day weekend; the last long weekend of the summer. Even those who don't travel may be doing family get-togethers, barbecues, etc.[/color:post_uid0]

Sa'ar Chasm 09-02-2003 01:52 AM

And in Canada it's the LaboUr Day weekend. I spent the weekend moving (fourth time this summer). I'm hoping this will be a bit more permanent, and I've got home Inet access for the first time since the end of June. Yay me.[/color:post_uid0]

mudshark 09-02-2003 02:04 AM

Fourth time [i:post_uid0]this summer?[/i:post_uid0] 8| Eep! Glutton for punishment, or what?[/color:post_uid0]

taya17 09-02-2003 02:05 AM

Good-o, Sa'ar! Does this mean we will see the resuming of your skyrocketing post-count? :D

Hope the new place is permanent, though![/color:post_uid0]

Sa'ar Chasm 09-02-2003 03:29 AM

[quote:post_uid0]Glutton for punishment, or what?[/quote:post_uid0]

Hardly. I had to flee the first place because of a scary rrom mate and crazy landlord. The second place was UBC Rez, and I was only allowed to stay until early August. For the last three weeks I was a charity case living with family friends in Deep Cove (2-hour commute to and from UBC), and now 'm in another basement suite until December at least *crosses fingers*

[quote:post_uid0]Does this mean we will see the resuming of your skyrocketing post-count?[/quote:post_uid0]

Yup, especially since I'm technically unemployed at the moment. I'm currently in negotiations with last year's employer.

It's rather hard to type when lying on one's back on the floor with the keyboard balanced on one's stomach. Methinks I need a desk.[/color:post_uid0]

taya17 09-02-2003 03:44 AM

Get a desk. Or alternatively, get a life :RUNS:

:D[/color:post_uid0]

*crosses fingers for Sa'ar*

After a long period where it seemed as if I was moving at least once a year, things have been pretty stable on that front for a while, even if this place [i:post_uid0]is[/i:post_uid0] kind of a dump.[/color:post_uid0]

Sa'ar Chasm 09-02-2003 04:13 AM

This place isn't a dump. It's actually clean, which is novel for me. I even have a female room mate. I prefer female room mates. Men are such pigs. Girls are clean and smell nice.

Although I should probably remove my Warhammer models from the living room before she moves in.[/color:post_uid0]
