Dsokdpaches?

Who or what are those?

admiral sab 08-11-2004 12:22 PM

I've been wondering the same thing.

I've learned though it's best not to ask, as you will most certainly regret it after recieving the answer. ;)

danieldoof 08-11-2004 12:31 PM

I want to know it anyway

even if I have to cry afterwards

Opium 08-11-2004 12:44 PM

Well, while you try to figure that out, how about go to my quiz?

http://www.quizyourfriends.com/takeq...w~p20Opium~p3F

danieldoof 08-11-2004 01:06 PM

well...I could not do anything else then guess

I do not know you well enough yet
but I give it a try

edit: 40 not bad for guessing :)

Michiel 08-11-2004 01:19 PM

Maybe it's Klingon.

danieldoof 08-11-2004 01:24 PM

I don't think so...

too few ' (apostrophes) for being klingon

Alexia 08-11-2004 01:33 PM

Dunno either but it is in the ENT fiver, Proving Ground

NAHTMMM 08-11-2004 01:45 PM

It's from Sluggy Freelance or some other online comic I think ;)

catalina_marina 08-11-2004 03:27 PM

It's a Zeke thingie. Ask him.

And Opium: I only had 40%! :(

Well that's what you get, I guess, when you guess DS9 over Days, and the correct answer turns out to be the Simpsons.

mudshark 08-11-2004 03:41 PM

It's from VVS9, originally.

Hotaru 08-11-2004 06:48 PM

I just always assumed Zeke made it up. I guess I was wrong.

I got 70! Hoopla! It probably helped that I my browser froze up halfway through, and I knew the answers to the first couple of questions. :D

To answer the question, Shark and Hotaru are both right. It is from VVS9 (specifically, a flashback in "King of Kings, Part II: Light Unseen"), and Zeke did make it up (that's one of my episodes). Originally it's a Sulorian expletive. I've since used it a number of times around the site; a couple that spring to mind are "Proving Ground," Paneldemonium Part 8, and the O. C. pilot fiver.

MaverickZer0 08-11-2004 08:13 PM

Yeah....hey!

...See? I have never said 'eh' in my life. Then again, I live near Vancouver. I can order sushi in Japanese and say several other useful phrases. Maybe Canadian is so confusing because it's a whole bunch of languages.

At least we don't think everyone will understand it if we speak it slowly enough.

catalina_marina 08-11-2004 10:18 PM

^Slowly? I've heard loudly. And believe me, PHJ does NOT speak slowly.

Thanks for clearing that up!

It was used in:
Pandelmonium, Part 8
O.C. - "The Pilot"
ENT - "Dead Stop"
ENT - "Proving Ground"
ENT - "Carpenter Street"
VVS9 - "King of Kings Part II: Light Unseen" (not a fiver)

That seems to happen all the time - just look at "Saturday IRC"!

Ginga 08-12-2004 02:34 AM

Wow. For as much as I loved VVS8&9, I do NOT remember ever seeing the word "dsokdpaches". X_x

MaverickZer0 08-12-2004 02:39 AM

I can't remember if I did or didn't. It's been awhile.

PHJ's not Canadian, though. (Eh?)

Actually, I also say "hey" rather than "eh". As in, "Nice summer we're havin', hey? NOT! Stupid arctic cold fronts." Maybe all Canadians say "hey" and we just get misheard all the time....

Opium 08-12-2004 04:53 AM

Qe pronouce "eh" as "hey" in Canadian, but in American speak it sounds like "eh". :P

Hotaru 08-12-2004 07:19 AM

I never say Hey or Eh. And on the subject of Canadian weather... it's too hot in Calgary! It's way too hot! I want my winter back!

Did I say it was me? Didn't I say it was you?

But seriously, if I've asked you to repeat what you just said more than three times, you might want to consider speaking more slowly or clearly or whatever after that.

I'm only Dutch you know.

Mine was an ever-so-slight less-than-subtle dig at Americans, so it's meant to apply only to whoever's American here.

Damn you! It better be coming my way. I was out watching the meteor shower last night (which kicked ass, btw) and it was only plus 2! In AUGUST! WTF? It's like 10 degrees below normal and we haven't had a hot sunny weekend since mid-July. (I've been waiting for one so I can reduce the nasty swimsuit tan I got mid-July. Still waiting.) So whoever stole Saskatchewan's summer weather, I want it back. (B.C., this means you.)

Um, no comment.
Seriously, please, take your weather. We haven't had any rain in ages. The blackberries are sour...

No fair. I'm too close to the city to see anything good. :(

Hotaru 08-13-2004 07:17 PM

Take the weather away! It's +30 today here in Calgary, which I know isn't that high in comparison to some other places but in compariosn to -30 I'm boiling. Heat makes me lazy, very lazy. Take it back!

MaverickZer0 08-13-2004 10:42 PM

Why don't we just pack this dry heat up and send it off somewhere else?
Say...*cracks knuckles* how about Florida?

catalina_marina 08-13-2004 10:43 PM

Could somebody please take these clouds away? I've never seen a meteor shower. :(

Took me a minute to realize you were speaking in metric. It's a trick to make Canada sound colder than it is, isn't it, thereby scaring everyone else away and KEEPING IT FOR YOURSELVES!

Hmm. That was a question, and yet it didn't end with a question mark. How odd.

/rant

Hotaru 08-14-2004 04:25 AM

If it were at trick to scare people away from Canada, then we would chose a less-world accepted measuring system. Like imperial.

MaverickZer0 08-14-2004 06:08 AM

Metric works on the Americans though, and they're the only ones we really want out.

Them and the British, that is. Maybe we can come up with a new system for them.

mudshark 08-14-2004 07:57 AM

Militant Canadians ... heh.

Just the Americans, really. And it's not the Canadians' fault you use a weird system.

MaverickZer0 08-15-2004 04:36 AM

We use simperial.

Only in Canada can you drive at 80 km/h, then spot something a hundred yards off. Only in Canada can you have size 10 feet, be 6'0", yet say water freezes at 0. Canada will rule the world.

Ahem. Sorry.

Only in Canada? You've never been to the UK before, have you? ;)

MaverickZer0 08-15-2004 08:00 PM

No actually.

Do you guys have a world domination plan too?
