Hello, I'm Gatac. You may remember me from such occasions as pointing out the Dr. Strangelove reference in "The Enemy" and promising to register after lurking for far too long.

My question to IJD GAF: Will there be an AoD fiver coming from you? I'm asking because that happens to be the only Tomb Raider game I actually finished...

Yay! Another registered member! :D[/color:post_uid0]

Gatac 02-09-2004 01:11 PM

It seemed only fair, considering I regularly go off on rants on other fori that people should register - though in that case, it was more about people who registered but never posted. (Ratio of Registered to Active users is 5:1, minimum.)

But anyway, the reason I'm asking is that, should there be no plans to produce an AoD fiver, I'd like to do one myself.

Hopefully IJD will be along soon with a positive answer for you.[/color:post_uid0]

Wow, sorry I didn't see this earlier.

Angel of Darkness will be fived, but first I have to play the damn thing. Â Converse to you, it's the only game I *haven't* played. Â But I'll get it sooner or later (read as: as soon as I have some cash to spare).

As for the movies....

;)[/color:post_uid0]

Gatac 02-09-2004 11:10 PM

The Tomb Raider movies - a quite different flavour of fiver material. Dunno if they both need to be fived, but I'd like to see atleast one.

As for Angel of Darkness, good to hear it wasn't forgotten. Looking at the actual game, I don't know if it's adviseable to play (much less with the intention to finish!) it somewhat casually. Saint Quicksavius will be the only one hearing your prayers.

(And the Boss fights range from frustrating to frustratingly easy. But Lara looks good.)[/color:post_uid0]

...again.[/color:post_uid0][/quote:post_uid0]
I'll probably ask Jim to be #100 again. He hasn't registered at the new boards yet. (I say new, but we've had these boards for over a year now, and even the 5MV skin is nearly a year old....)[/color:post_uid0]

ijdgaf 02-09-2004 11:30 PM

Oh, I loathe the movies. So the fivers should be pretty good.

I've heard all the worst about AoD, and I'm not expecting much. Then again, I heard all the worst for every game except the first; my personal favorite is #2, and the only one which didn't go over too well with me was #5. And since AoD is supposed to be better than #5, then I'm not too worried.

Cash is what worries me.[/color:post_uid0]

Gatac 02-10-2004 06:48 AM

I actually don't think the game is THAT bad...the story is quite good, but there are some elements that seem abortive (the use of cash, for example, which pretty much only changes the time when you get a specific and not even that good weapon), and the controls are somewhat finicky. Also, there's Breath of Hades. You'll know why people hate it when you see it.

On the other hand, if you're something of a gunbunny like me, you're going to like the in-game arsenal, even if licensing (as usual) stops at the actual names. That, and the baby steps towards a viable stealth approach are appreciated by yours truly. (But then, I did enjoy Hitman, Hitman 2 and Splinter Cell...all of which could stand to be fived.)

ijdgaf 02-10-2004 09:51 PM

gunbunny?

I'm conservative as hell with my ammo in TR. Â I use pistols in all situations I can. Â The only time I really break out the big ammo is during:

a) Boss fights

b) Times of extreme frustration (then I kill myself and restart -- ah, TR, thy are a beautiful metaphor for life :))[/color:post_uid0]

Gatac 02-12-2004 03:52 PM

Gunbunny: The guy next to you in a cinema who remarks with cold superiority that a Beretta 92FS (and he insists it's an FS, pointing out the different safety lever) has only 15 rounds in a standard length magazine. Of course, he's counted the shots, dismissed the possibility that it was a hard-to-see extended magazine due to overwhelming visual evidence to the contrary, and is already formulating a hate latter to the Technical Advisor of the film.

I'm not that bad, but sometimes I'm very tempted.

There's not really a need to be that conservative with ammunition. A lot of enemies can be bested in unarmed combat, or with sneak attacks from behind.
