F. Murray Abraham did the same thing while filming
Insurrection, although reportedly he didn't realize he was doing it. They stopped filming and someone said "Murray, you don't have to make the shooting sounds when you fire your phaser. We'll add it in post." Abraham said "I'm not making noises! What are you talking about?" So they showed him the dailies and he was making phaser-fire sounds like a five-year-old! :mrgreen:
