Actually it's ten times more obscure than that. It's from a Mad Magazine parody of the old Raymond Burr "Perry Mason" series, called "The Night that Perry Masonmint Lost a Case." During the trial the prosecutor reveals that because Perry's defendant committed the murder at a baseball game there are 50,000 witnesses. The bailiff then calls them all to the stand, one by one, in alphabetical order: "Aardvark, Aaron... Aardvark, Abner..."
However, "Aardvark, Azaz the Unabridged" is of course a reference to "The Phantom Tollbooth."
