You're right. The forum colors could use some tweaking. Posting like this is weird.
And I think the smilies should be smaller, so that they fit within one line of text. But it all looks good otherwise.
Very nice idea, those animations in Bem. But may I suggest that you replace the entire tag-thing, including the < a > tags with the following:

It's a lot less buggy, it uses one less image and it works in every browser that has javascript.
Because it's javascript, you don't need the < a > tags. Because your animated gif only cycles once, you don't need an 'end' image. And I thought it would make a lot more sense if you had to click on them, instead of hover over them.
