I'd never really been aware of him before the rash of "Bananaphone" animations two or three years ago. I had to Google him to find that out. After my time, perhaps? I don't remember when he started out.

Edit: Yeah, looks like his first album of songs came out in 1976, by which time I was taking my first year of community college. Seems to have done all kinds of good things besides writing songs, though.

I had one of his records growing up. One of the songs involves an elephant sitting on people.
