[color=#000000ost_uid0]I think I like this scene best:
[quoteost_uid0]Oracle: Hi, Neo. Watch out for that vase.
Neo: OK.
(Awkward Pause)
Oracle: All right, just for that, you're not the One.[/quoteost_uid0][/colorost_uid0]

[color=#000000ost_uid0]Hello, can we vote yet?

There are so many good ones, I cant decide.

One more to choose from:
Oracle: Neo, you are not the one, Morpheus is God, and Cypher is a traitor.
Neo: Im not the one? NOOOO!!!
*Later that day*
Trinity: Is there any important information the oracle gave ya?
Neo: Nope, I kinda stopped listening after she said that I wasn't the one.[/colorost_uid0]

[quoteost_uid0="NeoMatrix"][color=#000000ost_uid0]Oracle: I have some good news and some bad news.
Neo: What's the bad news?
Oracle: You are going to die. Have a cookie.
Neo: Duh! So what is the good news.
Oracle: I won the lottery! See ya![/colorost_uid0][/quoteost_uid0]
[color=#000000ost_uid0]I'd change this one to:

Oracle: I have some good news and some bad news.
Neo: What's the bad news?
Oracle: You are going do die. Have a cookie.
Neo: Duh! So what is the good news?
Oracle: I just saved hundreds of dollars on my car insurance by switching to Geico.[/colorost_uid0]

[color=#000000ost_uid0]I don't have any particularly strong opinion on this one... a lot of good stuff, and no one that grabbed me in particular.

My vote goes to all scenes involving Jobe's line:
[quoteost_uid0]Oracle: You see that sign? It means, "If you can read this, you're not the One." [/quoteost_uid0]

I'll be more specific (and perhaps will attempt some fine-tuning) should we pick out a particular variation.[/colorost_uid0]

[color=#000000ost_uid0]This is good if this was only for the United States. We have people on here from around the world who have not seen those commercials, so they wouldnt get it. Believe me, ive been critized for doing that before.[/colorost_uid0]

[color=#000000ost_uid0]Don't worry Neo, we might not know that particular commercial, we have a couple commercials like that, so it doesn't mean we don't get it.[/colorost_uid0]

[color=#000000ost_uid0]My early two-liner didn't catch anyone's fancy? Darn... Of course, I do like the sign line myself, hence my trying to make a scene that incorporated it. I felt its final line was a touch weak, though...

Anyway, as conceited as it is, I have to admit that I like my first entry best:

[quoteost_uid0][bost_uid0]Oracle[/bost_uid0]: You're not the One yet. Â If you were, you wouldn't break the vase.
[bost_uid0]Neo[/bost_uid0]: What vase? Â *smash* Â ...Oh. Â Does that mean I don't get a cookie?[/quoteost_uid0][/colorost_uid0]

[color=#000000ost_uid0]There are a few good ones circulating, which always makes things trickier. Â Personally, I think the best is the one Cat quoted:
[quoteost_uid0]Oracle: Hi, Neo. Watch out for that vase.
Neo: Okay.
(awkward pause)
Oracle: All right, just for that, you're not the One.[/quoteost_uid0]
It's short and the gag is funny. Â I also like the BBCode one... but I don't want to pick the finalists for you. Â Let's do it this way: the vote starts here, and you can vote for any scene posted so far that you didn't write. Â I'll start by voting for the one above.

I think this is in fact how I'll try doing the next couple of blocks. People post versions for a while (maybe a set number of days), then we call a vote and all scenes except your own are valid candidates. The reason for the no-self-votes rule? It's hard for writers to be objective about their own scenes, and let's face it, not everything posted in the FBC threads is gold. If you can't just vote for your own scene, you have to vote based on quality. (And if you decide yours is the only good one, you can always abstain.) This way we know we're getting something that several people have considered and found good. We'll try it here and see how it goes.[/colorost_uid0]

[color=#000000ost_uid0]As I said on the previous page, I vote for JobeGDG's
[quoteost_uid0]Oracle: You see that sign? It means, "If you can read this, you're not the One."
Neo: Oh, well then I'm glad I couldn't read it. Is it Latin?
Oracle: No, I'm afraid that's English. Geez, what could Trinity possibly see in a doofus like you?
Neo: Trini-who?
Oracle: Â…How about you just concentrate on eating this cookie?[/quoteost_uid0][/colorost_uid0]

[color=#000000ost_uid0]For me it's a decision between Pteryx's first block, Jobe's, and this one from Standback:
[quoteost_uid0]Oracle: Hi, Neo. Watch out for that vase.
Neo: OK.
[iost_uid0](Awkward Pause)[/iost_uid0]
Oracle: All right, just for that, you're not the One.[/quoteost_uid0]

I vote for Standback's (the one I just quoted).

If we do use the BBCode one...hmmm...I'd recommend that we switch it to HTML so that the non-BBSers in the audience might still know what Neo's talking about, but I think that Internet browsers would then assume we [iost_uid0]meant[/iost_uid0] it and vanish it... :suspicious:[/colorost_uid0]

[color=#000000ost_uid0]Are you allowed to vote if you're not a member? If so, I like

Oracle: No, I'm afraid that's English. Geez, what could Trinity possibly see in a doofus like you?

[color=#000000ost_uid0]I cast my vote for the same block of JobeGDG's Derek already cited.

And Zeke, I appreciate your interceding here when necessary to get the ball rolling. The 5BC here is what actually kept me interested in the site past the original, "Hey, that's funny!"; I've branched out to the other forums since then, but this forum is still the one I check first every time I log on. So I apoligize if my occasional griping is annoying, it's just because I really, really, really love the 5BC, and can never stand to see it gathering dust.[/colorost_uid0]
