Anyway when it comes out lots of people will hate it. I personally think it's pointless to hate before seeing it. I'm just looking forward to seeing it.

I have heard it said on the grapvine, the gravy train, and, just this morning, the butter mountain that the new series will air in the UK on either the 17th or the 19th of March. But this is just a rumour.....

It's kinda strange, knowing that it's so close now. New Doctor Who - pretty much the best birthday present I could have wished for.

It's confirmed - Doctor Who will be back on the 26th of March. Anyone who doesn't believe me- go to Outpost Gallifrey!

Two things to update on - first of all, the bbc website has trailers and interview up - www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho, and second, a bunch of videos being shipped to Canada have caused a leak of one of the first episodes on the internet. Great at keeping things secret, our Beeb

Well, I've heard that it wasn't their fault but the fault of the production parter. But anyway, I'm damn excited all the same - it's just a little over a fortnight now. I can hardly wait!

There's also going to be a two part show on BBC Radio 2 that looks like it will be worth tuning in for.

"Hello Rose, I'm the Doctor. Now run for your life!"

You know, that wasn't half bad. It wasn't perfect by a long shot, but it still most definitely Doctor Who. From the teaser trailers and whatnot that I'd seen prior to this first episode (entitled "Rose" for those that don't know) left me a little doubtful that Chris Eccleston would make a good Doctor, but you know, he really does.

The acting was very good. The SFX, again, very good, and so was the dialogue. But the actual plot was, I felt, abysmal, and much too fast. there wasn't enough to sink your teeth into it, Russel T Davies' outrageous silliness with the wheely-bin, the london eye, etc - eugh. Still a promising start - let's hope the spin out the next few stories, and, despite all this, Eccleston comes over well as the Doctor, despite all my doubts......

I agree from what I've seen that it's not perfect but definitely has a Doctor Who feel about it. Much, much better than Timelash...

Favorite bit so far has to be the cheeky nod to the Doctor being an alien who's nonetheless British (handled much more clunkily in the movie): "Lots of planets have a north!"

Definitely still excited and desperate to get it actually broadcast here in the US.

Also, downloaded Dr Who Confidential and enjoyed that very much as well--good of them to integrate the old and new series, complete with interviews with Doctors 4, 5, 6, 7, and 9 (where's Paul?), plus Billie--and Katy Manning! Good nostalgia plus good tidbits from the new series.

The reason there is no Mcgann interview is becasue the beeb seems desperate to wipe out the memory of the TVM..........embarassed, perhaps?

Well, I woulnd't quite say that, Valium. If they were embarassed why would they have published over a hundred eighth Doctor novels? Not to mention the comics and the Big Finish audios. Everything I've seen suggests that rather than just throw all this continuity at people and have them be confused (becuase it is new viewers the Beeb is after, not just the existing fans), they're going to work up to it gradually. I rather suspect that when the next series rolls around (and I'd be surprised if there wasn't a next series), and the new viewers are more knowledgeable about Time Lords and all that, then we will see something pertaining to McGann's regeneration into CE. I can't see Russell T Davies not taking the chance to do that when the new series has gotten itself a bit more established.

It's official! David Tennant will be the tenth Doctor. Personally I'm looking forward to it, though for some bizarre reason some seem to feel that he's "too young". Mind you, they probably said the same thing about Davison back in '82, and Tennant, though he looks young, is actually six years older than Davison when he took up the role.

Hopefully we're going to get more than just one season out of this guy.
