[color=#000000ost_uid0][quoteost_uid0="catalina_marina"]Are you sure? I'm six time-zones away, PHJ seven. Does it have that kind of range?[/quoteost_uid0]

If a mere twenthieth century nuke can make that kind of  distance, what do you think a twenty-third century weapon can do?

[color=#000000ost_uid0][quoteost_uid0][iost_uid0]Although in the 20th century it is possible to fire weapons at an object out of visual range, people of the 23rd century will have lost this technology.[/iost_uid0]

If he'd been online I would have asked him for input...like what the Latin for "bat" is. I'm sure it starts with c, but all I can pull from long term storage is chelys, and that's turtle (and Greek).

Speaking dog-Latin is something I aspire to. Right now I speak rat-Latin.[/colorost_uid0]

[color=#000000ost_uid0]Well, to be really specific it's from [iost_uid0]Heretics of Dune[/iost_uid0] and [iost_uid0]Chapterhouse: Dune[/iost_uid0]. I suppose I could try and explain -

A No-ship is basically a ship equipped with a cloaking device (a No-field) , except that it's totally undectectable by conventional means, and that Guild Navigators can't 'see' it either (or anything that happens inside it). There's also some mention in one of the 'Prelude to Dune' books, but I forget which.[/colorost_uid0]

[color=#000000ost_uid0]Ahh, that explains it. I got to the second chapter of [iost_uid0]Heretics[/iost_uid0] and gave up. After the kids were gone it just didn't seem worth it any more...

Thanks, anyway.[/colorost_uid0]
