So, with CW over, what lies ahead for 5M? (Hmm... that acronym isn't working as well as I thought yet.) Here's a run-down of my immediate plans for the site.
[*]The most important thing that needs doing is post-event cleanup. During the event, I simply blasted the content out and didn't bother with details like back/forward links; I'll be taking care of those now that the pressure's off. A bigger problem is that v4.0 remains in an in-between state, with some fivers inaccessible and some subsites not even there. I won't be able to really overhaul the PHP till September, but I'll at least patch things up a bit.[*]Speaking of v4.0, you'll recall that the images we're currently using are only temporary. Dan Carlson and I will be working on the new ones over the coming weeks; believe me, when you see what Dan can do, you won't miss my stopgap images.[*]There may or may not be subsite events in August, but there will definitely be fivers. I have several in progress, and there are many, many guest fivers waiting in the wings. One of my first goals is to get a good start on the much-requested Season 4 of Enterprise.[*]I've had a new idea for making some money through 5M. I think this one will work better than the signed-fivers thing; later this week I'll explain what it is.[*]Finally, the fifth-anniversary article is still coming, it's just taking a bit longer than I thought.[/list]

Oo! More ways to give Zeke money!

Have you received my purchase request for "Zero Hour," BTW?

take your time, Zeke. We'll be here.

And about the initials 5M, it's just missing something. Like the V?

That's why I liked 5M.net, since it both reflected the site name accurately and completed the visual and auditory iamb.

First of all: Hey evay! how are things at HoT? See there's a name with three letters that everyone recognizes. If one day they changed it to Ho it would take on a whole new meaning. lol my point? oh I guess is that 5M.N would be ok in a crunch...

Don't get me started on "ho," dear. 8) We've missed you, though! Why don't you stop by and say hello?

"5M.N" looks odd to me, like it's some strange riff on the alphabet or one of those letter rebuses (52 Cs in a D, 4 W on a C, that kind of thing).

It's a pity Zeke was never into Roman Numerals - then he could have called the site VMV. Might have confused some though ("5005? What the heck is that supposed to mean?").

Hmmm, I wonder what Pi would be, converted into Roman Numerals...

(Aaand I hate to be a bother (okay, so that's a lie, but what do I care?), but when can I expect my sup[er duper genuine signed fiver copy, oh great Zekeness?)

Math expert, remember? I can multiply Roman numerals. Mayan too, if you'd like some of that.

However, I honestly never thought of VMV. It does have a lovely symmetry to it. Which is better than a fearful symmetry.

^^How did the Mayans express numbers? I didn't know they were significantly different.

Me too. And I think that "In what furnace was thy brain?" is rather odd question, especially when taken out of context. Or even when left in context.

I thought that was the old-fashioned way of asking "Was your head up your ass or what?"

Oh, I should have answered this right away: I have NOT forgotten the fiver orders that have already been placed. If I can, I'm going to send them out tomorrow. Sorry for the delay; it's a matter of perfectionism and procrastination, two great psychoses that taste great together.

If you look at some of his paintings, it begins not to sound quite so odd.

Maybe.
