It wasn't terribly cheap - nearly £400 once I added spare memory cards and a spare battery into the equation - but it'll be great all the same to have a camera that is definitively my own, and especially so one that is far better than what I'm currently using (a Canon PowerShot S1 IS, which is decent in its own right, but distinctly lacking in oomph). It doesn't arrive for another week or so, so here's hoping it arrives safe and sound.

That's Stornoway, specifically Stornoway town centre (what there is of it). That building with clock tower is the town hall.

You know, I can't actually remember now. I'm pretty sure it was the black. And yes, of course it makes all the difference. :D

Strangely, in Gaelic, the word sassenach doesn't actually carry any negative connotations. It's only when it's used in English that it does (depending on who is saying it, of course).

In Gaelic, it just means "Saxon", as in "those guys over there".
