View Full Version : September 10 - Day 6 of NGW:TNG
Day six features yet another Marc fiver, this time for one of my favourite episodes, "Rightful Heir (../nextgen/rightfulheir.html)." Â Read and enjoy, and come back Friday (the site is silent tomorrow) for the conclusion of NGW:TNG.[/color:post_uid0]

[quote:post_uid0]Torin: With good reason. If you are really Kahless, we high clerics are now out of a job![/quote:post_uid0]
I wonder if Klingon clerics are allowed to use bladed weapons, or are confined to bludgeoning like all the other clerics.
[quote:post_uid0]Gowron: If he refuses, I will gladly extract it from him. How many gallons does your doctor require?[/quote:post_uid0]
<snicker>
[quote:post_uid0]Worf: But I am making progress, sir. At first, I could only get a busy signal. Now, I believe that I have been put on hold.[/quote:post_uid0]
"We're sorry, all prayer lines are busy. In addition, we have outsourced our call centre to India. Please stay on the line, and Vishnu will be with you shortly."
You're probably getting sick of hearing this, but good job.[/color:post_uid0]

Heh. Good stuff. I liked all your TOS and DS9 nods as well.[/color:post_uid0]

Very funny fiver. The first four paragraphs in particular were quite silly.
Also
[quote:post_uid0]Picard: He is an honoured guest and we will treat him as respectfully as we would treat Abraham Lincoln.
Riker: No doubt to be followed by Louis of France and Robert the Bruce.
Picard: Only if we go in alphabetical order.[/quote:post_uid0]
and
[quote:post_uid0]Gowron: I will not let myself be ousted so that a swaggering, tin-plated dictator with delusions of godhood can lead the Empire![/quote:post_uid0]
and also
[quote:post_uid0]Kahless: Then explain why nobody has wanted it for the past three hundred years.
Gowron: It is said that the last Emperor quit because of inadequate retirement benefits.
Kahless: Could the pension plan be indexed to cover three centuries of inflation?
Gowron: You drive a hard bargain, Your Majesty.[/quote:post_uid0]
:D[/color:post_uid0]
>> I liked all your TOS and DS9 nods as well. <<
Thanks. The fiver also includes tips of the hat to Voyager, Enterprise, earlier episodes of Next Generation, Star Wars and to Monty Python and the Holy Grail -- so I think that covers all the bases. :) By the way, it's a coincidence that Gowron ended up appearing in two fivers in the span of 24 hours. He's a fun, over-the-top character, so reading Zeke's fiver yesterday was a nice bonus.[/color:post_uid0]

It wasn't so much Gowron as two mentions of the Sword of Kahless in 24 hrs. that had me wondering. ;)
Good stuff again, Marc! :)

My sentiments exactly.
Good job again! :)[/color:post_uid0]

Sorry -- was referring to satirist and parodist Stan Freberg, who could be considered something of a forefather to the sort of funny business that goes on here. Matt Groening and Weird Al Yankovic have both cited him as a major influence, and I know of at least one Jim Wright VOY synopsis which borrows a line from his landmark [i:post_uid0]Stan Freberg Presents the United States of America - Part I: the Early Years[/i:post_uid0].
Here's a link to an article (http://theages.superman.ws/users/mas/usa/apwire.html) about his more recent doings, which also mentions a few career highlights, such as working alongside Mel Blanc starting at age 17. If you scan his list of credits (http://imdb.com/name/nm0292677/) at IMDb, I'm sure that you'll find that you know his voice, even if you don't recognize the name.[/color:post_uid0]
