I, TOO will stand for Exec. I promise to make sweeping and fun changes, demand more space combat Star Trek games, introduce the Lyrans and Hydrans to the screen, add way more fun CGI battles, and my most radical change: Make Zaphod Beeblebrox President of the Federation. I shall have a new series for all the annoying characters, and move them all there. It shall be called Star Trek: All the Annoying Ones Who Get In The Way On One Starship Together Having Massive Rows, or ST:AOWGITWOOSTHMR -and also a series for all the good characters we like, called Star Trek All the Good Character Who Do Stuff And Aren't Annoying On One Ship Not Having Massive Rows, or ST:AGCWDSAAAOOSNHMR
And finally, a series all about data, called Star Trek: Datafile, where he commands a starship into the middle of nowhere and waits for a passing asteroid to destroy the ship. Crew: 2. Him and Wesley Crusher. Finally, I shall get crossovers made which aren't just crossover-fests! And I will not allow more than 3 Time-related stories in as many seasons.
That is most of my Manifesto for New Valium! Vote New Valium Today and Get a Free Sticker!*

*Must vote before end of reign of King Alfred the Great in England.

Asky

Except for the teams, who will, in fact, have two votes.

No, because if I don't get to be exec, I will sieze it by force, and replace Star Trek with a new series (exactly like the old series) of Blake's 7 ! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

Oh, and I TOO have a campaign poster.... http://www.geocities.com/subbie909/valiumposter.jpg
And don't forget - With New Valium you CAN have your pie, eat it AND have fivers! And don't forget to sing my election song : I'm Walking Backwards For Christmas! It goes like this:
I'm walking backwards for Christmas,
Across the Irish Sea,
I'm walking backwards for Christmas,
It's the only thing for me.

I've tried walking sideways,
And walking to the front,
But people just look at me,
And say it's a publicity stunt.

I'm walking backwards for Christmas,
To prove that I love you.

An immigrant lad, loved an Irish colleen
From Dublin Galway Bay.
He longed for her arms,
But she spurned his charms,
And sailed o'er the foam away

She left the lad by himself, on his own
All alone, a-sorrowing
And sadly he dreamed, or at least that's the
way it seemed, buddy,
That an angel quieted him....
An angel quieted the same.

I'm walking backwards for Christmas,
Across the Irish Sea.
I'm walking backwards for Christmas,
It's the finest thing for me.

And so I've tried walking sideways,
And walking to the front.
But people just laughed, and said,
"It's a publicity stunt".

So I'm walking backwards for Christmas
To prove that I love you.

Sorry. New Valium (like New Labour but even more snore-inducing) will also remove all current forms of computer in Star Trek and replace them with Eddie, but only if it will give people a whole bundle of kicks, guys! Share and Enjoy!
Also, I will have Wesley Crusher killed at least once a season. He will only appear that once, and will have a slow, lingering death that will keep you riveted to your seat for 45 minutes! (With the occasional scene of various Star Trek crews making up excuses not to rescure him....including Beverly Crusher!

1) squitty child prodigy types (eg Wesley Crusher, Adric etc)
2) Mary-Sues.
And then replace the sets with ones that are gothic, and dark, made of MDF and day-glo pink nylon drapes, and have NO computer banks, and turn the entire load of main characters (excluding the child prodigies, mary-sues etc) into blathering idiots who will follow the crackpot suggestions of the child prodigies, mary-sues, etc.
If this isn't bad enough....I will also give to all my voters vast tracts of land, money, and a share of the profits from microsoft. (NB - I don't own microsoft....yet..but I WILL once I have the ExecProd of ST - I need that for my hideously complicated but fool-proof plan....)

So, in other words, you will have a crew-show? (a show put on by the crew at the after-party of the play where the crew puts on the costumes, makes everything outrageoiusy funny, and uses bad in-jokes)

Sounds like fun for theatre geeks like me. However, your threat means nothing to me, as I promise this:

One episode of Trek a season will be a funny, satirical, sarcastic episode full of wacky things to lighten the mood!

...I guess so. *facepalm*

(Actually, the top part of the crest did throw me for a loop when I first looked at it--"Ooh, pretty colors!"--but the Big Red Checks were a dead giveaway. Big Red Checks are a long-running amusement of mine, yes. Don't ask. You don't want to know.)

*ahem*

I recognised the checks as well, but the heradlic twiddly bits on top threw me. Once the checks fell into place, I could see the red white and blue Slavic stripes.

The US flag threw me, oddly enough. My first thought was Austria, of all things.

- Excrutiatingly well paid multiple guest appearances (if wanted)
- Positions on the Board of Directors of Paramount
- Positions on the Council of Trek - a selection of worthy people who get to make important decisions about ST. (your worthiness is determined by your support for me.....)
- The chance to kill Wesley Crusher on tape
- The chance to kill android doubles of Wesley Crusher any time you want - comes with over 300 gallons of extra (uber-realisic) fake blood, and an armoury/torture chamber of diabolical weapons to use against them.
- A shiny Starfleet Command Dress Uniform

- Every few months the writers will be SACKED and replaced with BETTER ones.....
- Brannon Braga and Rick Berman will be hired....as work-experience boys.....
- Annoying scenes which get in the way will be removed
- Anyone found to be obsessing about minor details on the programme, unless justified, will be SACKED..or worse, appear as redshirts....

In this post, I will not discuss any cute promises or say any sort of negative things about those who are also in the running. Instead, I will state this:

I was a DRO (Deputy Returning Officer) which meant I helped people vote and helped count the ballots. So, I know about fair elections. Therefore, I will say this: I will ensure this is a fair election! If elected, I will also make sure that the elections done while I am in power will be fair.

However, despite the above knowlegde of how an election SHOULD be, let's face: it is best to vote for the party that will represent your views the best, AND is most likely to be voted in. So,

Many children watch "Enterprise". In fact, Star Trek has always been something kids watched, and has been family-safe.

But what kind of family-safe programming could be run by a party that has "Sex" in their name?

While Alexia and Admiral Sab are outstanding forumgoers, creative, fun and nice, together they make the Sexy party. How can a "Sexy" party make a "family-friendly" show?

Things like Vitamines A,C,D,E...

ASCII promises healthy doses of A, G, C and T, plus a strict training regimen for the writers, explaining to them what those actually mean, and what you can and can't do with them.

This will be followed by a crash course in elementary physics, chemistry and biology, as well as basic logic.

Vote ASCII, because the only characters you need are binary.

Overdoses of those vitamins could cause death or serious permanent damage, especially in such a delicate developing system as a child's.

Derek

When you accuse you make an acc of u and se.
Allow me to assume the role of devil's advocate and say that I've never liked that phrase.

I mean, sure, it's clever. Who would want to make A C Compiler out of Universities and Special Editions? Still, sometimes you have to accuse, even if it's on imperfect information.

Get a Clue board game for an example. Let's assume you've seen all the people except for Colonel Mustard and Mrs. White, but you've noticed that when other players have guessed involving Mrs. White, they've always been shown a card from one certain player. Thus, you can assume that Colonel Mustard is the culprit, and accuse him. What's so wrong about that?

It's true that you're wrong sometimes, but still you have to go on accusing, partly because you'll never know until you do accuse, and your wrong accusations help you refine your accusing sense and allow you to make right accusations.

...Er, actually this argument isn't making that much sense, so I'll just assume Zeke was talking about something else, and accuse Colonel Mustard, in the kitchen, with the knife.

::checks::

Ha! I was right!

I promise to bring Julius Caesar to write some scripts. It will definitely be a challenge for the actors, since his sentences are 119 words long. But we, the audience, shall enjoy the most interesting and compelling dialogues! They shall be so long, there won`t be any time for discontinuity, alien Nazis and stuff.

And it`s quite clear Caesar has a writing talent. Just look at my sig! It`s a little bit from his ancient text "Caesar Goes To Croatia (And Possibly Slovenia)". Since Illyricum is ancient Croatia, and all...

You should have seen Canada's Prime Minister candidate debate. 5 party leaders, two debates (one in French at one time, one in English at another time). The five guys were able to ask each other questions, go on way to long, fight, get in arguments, talking over each other, bringing up every issue under the sun...now THAT was a headache-making, thought-provoking debate!

Which is the kind of debate that I am glad we have been having!

Could I just ask, who is IN the Morphine Party (previously BUH and New Valium)?

I do believe I am...and you are.

I like Agatha Christie, although I think it may be a little hard to get her to write for us...and I'm hearing about enough Shakespeare right now...(I guess being in a theatre program will do that)

Also, we must have modern composers for our soundtracks along with the classics (although it would be easier for modern ones to sue us for using their music  ) :
Our Lady Peace
Norah Jones
Nickelback
Sum 41
Nirvana
Alanis Morressette

Sarah McLachlan

Those can maybe be 4 the adult version. the kids' version has to be educational. So rennaissance-classical music, right? (with a large helping of the Baroque....) besides, the Handel will be reserved for scenes where triumphalistic music is required etc......oh, and yes, they can't sue us that's why I chose 'em.....and of course with all these great writers, how can we fail to have excellent plots? Some of the greatest British writers of all time are there! (Proust would just be too wyrd, okay?) :D

NOT to support the party, you dont and Fuyu is voting for Lexy n Sab....our manifesto appears, in full, to be:

My party platform is as follows:
-Enterprise will be more like the superior Treks: DS9 and TNG.
-Archer will shave his head
-Archer will notice Porthos is lonely, and adopt a wirehaired dachsund.
-I will do my best to contract Eric Szmanda and Noah Wyle into guest-starring roles.
-Since James Marsters and Nicholas Brendon aren't doing much these days, and used to be on UPN, I will offer them standard long-term contracts to reprise their Buffy roles.
-Out with the Alien Nazis, in with the Vamps with Soul and Lovable Funny Guy
-Better props...the retro-future look is fun!
-Better costumes...less blue-grey, more sophisticated black, green, pink, and yellow!
My secondary platforms are as stated:
Enterprise needs strong leadership and more Evil Future Guy!
Enterprise needs more appropriate times for Trip to take off his shirt.
Enterprise needs more tention between Trip, T'Pol and Archer.
Enterprise needs Archer to date Hoshi.
Enterprise needs Hoshie to date Mayweather, and him to date her back.
sensible timelings and more concerned with action.
(I think this is stuff that Opium wants to do....)
Alien Nazis plotline is to be replaced with Spike!
demand more space combat Star Trek games, introduce the Lyrans and Hydrans to the screen, add way more fun CGI battles, and my most radical change: Make Zaphod Beeblebrox President of the Federation.
Actually, scrap that thing about Blake's Seven. If you don't vote for me, I'll put Wesley Crusher on the NX-01!
will also remove all current forms of computer in Star Trek and replace them with Eddie, but only if it will give people a whole bundle of kicks, guys!
That if you DONT vote for me, I'll fill Enterprise with:
1) squitty child prodigy types (eg Wesley Crusher, Adric etc)
2) Mary-Sues.
And then replace the sets with ones that are gothic, and dark, made of MDF and day-glo pink nylon drapes, and have NO computer banks, and turn the entire load of main characters (excluding the child prodigies, mary-sues etc) into blathering idiots who will follow the crackpot suggestions of the child prodigies, mary-sues, etc.
If this isn't bad enough....I will also give to all my voters vast tracts of land, money, and a share of the profits from microsoft
- A shiny sticker
- A tickle-me-Picard (:D)
- carbon-copies of Spock's eyebrows and ears
- too much Temporal Cold War/Conspiracy Theorems about the Vulcans, and the writers will be SACKED and replaced with BETTER writers.
- Pointless characters will, every few months, be put on a shuttle with Wesley Crusher and thrown to the Klingons as stress relievers...(:D)
- I'm afraid the current Enterprise music has to go....its so irritating i can't bear it a moment longer....besides....its not very Star Trek-y...is it?
offer two versions of Enterprise - one for the kids - full of wholesome morality and four natural ingredients to make them healthy() and Enterprise for more....adult viewers.....full of gritty conspiracy theory, rampant sex and violence, and with a child prodigy being killed at least once per episode
The kids ENT will be on at 6:30 and be half as long as the adult one, starting at 8.30

EX-cellent idea, Opium! and I think the name is still Morphine, I'm afraid, Neo. But I don't think Opium has expressed a view on it, I would prefer Morphine (two drugs: Opium and Valium = the Morphine Party!), and KGM prefers this too.....

Main Party Platforms Include:
A more diverse music selection
Some guest appearances by cool guys
A crossover/crossovers with CSI
No Alien Nazis (perhaps replace with Spike plotline from Buffy. This is even more feasable now that that guy from Angel was on CSI: Miami)
At every commercial break of Enterprise, a warning will come on: Remember to let any pets you have in or out, and to check you have nothing burning on the stove!
More diverse writers
Excess technobabble will be thrown off the edge of the earth (In the new series of ENT, something as-yet-undecided-but-definitely-bizarre will leave the Earth flat )

And of course I will do all that I asked of the candidates before I was candidate myself:

As a true band-wagon voter, I am jumping in and having my say:

-We promise to make Enterprise more like DS9, including hiring the cast back
-We promise that Porthos gets lonely and Archer adopts a standard wire-haired dachshund, because they are cute
-We promise to bring Eric Szmanda, James Marsters, Nicholas Brendon, and Noah Wyle onto Enterprise (in guest-starring roles, as Eric Szmanda and Noah Wyle already have really cool characters on really cool shows)

Enterprise has too many commercials! Cut them shorter!
Enterprise needs less forceful direction, and a more natural touch.
Enterprise needs to fully express it's science-fiction roots.
Enterprise needs to be less concerned with action and more with romance.
Enterprise needs to be less concerned with romance and more concerned with good plots.
Enterprise needs to be less concerned with good plots and more concerned with sensible timelines.
Enterprise needs to be less concerned with sensible timelings and more concerned with action.

I would also like to point out our other major policies:

Removal/improvement of so-far crap characters!

Opium
10-27-2004, 08:30 AM

I do think the current theme music should be heard only at the end, just so the change isn't too drastic.

Party Platforms:
Actually, scrap that thing about Blake's Seven. If you don't vote for me, I'll put Wesley Crusher on the NX-01!
will also remove all current forms of computer in Star Trek and replace them with Eddie, but only if it will give people a whole bundle of kicks, guys!
- A shiny sticker
- A tickle-me-Picard ()
- carbon-copies of Spock's eyebrows and ears
- too much Temporal Cold War/Conspiracy Theorems about the Vulcans, and the writers will be SACKED and replaced with BETTER writers.
- Pointless characters will, every few months, be put on a shuttle with Wesley Crusher and thrown to the Klingons as stress relievers...()
The kids ENT will be on at 6:30 and be half as long as the adult one, starting at 8.30
I would like to add one more idea to the pile in our manifesto..... Anyone found creating discontinuity or revisionist history will be SACKED (it's been a major problem with Doctor Who, after all)
to hire some folks from CSI if they happen to get sacked again, even though CSI rocks! In fact, I promise that at least one ep a season will be a CSI crossover!
I promise that crossovers will not be fan****
Excess technobabble will be thrown off the edge of the earth (In the new series of ENT, something as-yet-undecided-but-definitely-bizarre will leave the Earth flat )
Opium and the Morphine Party re-affirms to will do away with (annoying, insulting, pathetic) Nazi Aliens!
Also, just because something explodes in Engineering will no longer mean that a random panel on the bridge will frikking explode as well, dammit!

Oh, and our new script writers are as follows:
Mr. William Shakespeare
Mr. P.G. Wodehouse
Mrs. Agatha Christie
Mr. Geoffrey Chaucer (his lines my rhyme and/or be in Middle Engelaush. Apologisey My Oon Ardvaunce.)

And Laurence Olivier will now star as Captain Richard Archer the Third
"Ohhh
Yesterday,
All my troubles seemed so far away.
Now it looks as though they're here to stay,
Oh I believe in yesterday"

I think thats all. Whew. The last one's a joke, btw....
Oh! And don't forget! There will be a time travel 1920's one, where T'Pol Will try to dance the Charleston in a logical and Vulcan manner. Oh, and with Decorum...and Trip will sing "You're Driving Me Crazy" to her.:D

Thank you all for posting the contact info. I'll try to get the next eTrektion article posted on Sunday, though the S3 ENT fivers are a higher priority, and school higher yet.

I would just like to thank Asky for running this thread, and Zeke for running the website, and the forums and the etrektion, and the rest of the Morphine party for being such a great party!

And I still retain the right to abstain. That's a right in this district, right?

Or left? I've gone and confused myself again. I don't care who wins, just so long as whoever it is does at least one video game crossover.

I'm still not voting.

You can join our party, then Maverick! Like I said, EVERYONE is welcome to this party....and we need someone to violently disagree with us within the party......

I violently disagree with the entire electoral system, so no. I need to make my point here and now so I can petition for robot rights at a later date.

Besides, I consistently abstain from all elections. Why break a working trend?

This gives you an excuse not to vote- you're part of a party. But ultimately it's up to you. Because this is democracy. Otherwise we would threaten and cajole you with cudgels to join the party. God Bless Democracy. And God Bless Bush - no-one else will! :D

Right, I'm back after a wee absence - I was in Ohio trying to buy some votes, but don't tell anyone. Didn't go so well though - all the induhviduals voted for Bush, so now it's time for Plan B, which is much like Plan A, but with less democracy and more explosions. Stay tuned, folks, it'll be a fun one!

Anyway, that's by the by for the moment. Now that I'm back I can concentrate on the eTrektion. Updates will be forthcoming on the weekend!

Hmm....Cats demand large staffs. HAL is a psychopathic computer. NOT a good choice for etrektion......

Shiny new avatar and matching sig image (which I hope is not to obnoxious).

Vallium, personally I think this pair are the perfect candidates. Now, I realise that HAL may not be the most popular choice ever, but Catbert saw the wisdom in this instance of having a running mate. Plus, there's the fact that we couldn't get shot of him after the American election fiasco, but that's neither here nor there.

On a completely unrelated topic, I have just discovered a computer virus which could make every computer in the entire of North America and Europe play Pachelbel's Canon in D (ronnee.com/Pchbl - Cnon.wma) non-stop and be impossible to shut down or turn off without losing all your stuff  ....

Even if it WAS true, I'd be protected with my Ubar Firewall, Search and Destroy anti-virus program, Ad-Aware and Spy-Blocker. So HA!

And I;m not telling what the programs are

A side note from Morhpine:

We are in no way threatening anyone with anything, even if it would be funny rather than destructive.

Arg, more Morphine strong-arm tactics. Unfortunately, this one rankles me more because it affects the digital constituency, of which I am a part. Consider my support lost and given to...um...somebody. Somebody who...isn't you...and is...er...line?

I don't think either one of those are my line, but...

[ring!]

Yes?

Really?

GAH!

I refuse to say anything about smiting unbelievers! It's against the code!

...hold L and R and press A. :P

Anyway, I've yet to choose a horse to back. If anyone wishes to make feeble attempts at bribery, now is your chance.
