This is a quoting game. Example:
Person 1: ummmm............."A Handbag?!"
Person 2: ooh! The Importance of Being Ernest!
Person 1: Correct! Your go!
Person 2: ummmmm................."Oh, I'm so fatigued. I had to go to Bath to get cured of the fatigue. And now I'm so fatigued by the cure, I shall have to go to Bath again. To be cured of the fatigue..."
anyone not get it? Good.
First quote: "Oh, I'm so fatigued. I had to go to Bath to get cured of the fatigue. And now I'm so fatigued by the cure, I shall have to go to Bath again. To be cured of the fatigue..."

Hmmm. Is that The Scarlet Pimpernel?
If it is, heres my quote:
"What are you deeing man? This is hand to hand combat not a bloody tea dance!" (deeing = doing with an accent)
If its not, ignore it.

It is indeed that demmed elusive pimpernel! Well done!

Umm...is your quote from Kidnapped by RL Stevenson?

Nope. That is totaly along the wrong lines.

Seems to be from "Billy Elliott", but should be "man-to-man", rather than "hand-to-hand".
Who said this?
"Violence is the last refuge of the incompetent."
(Should be fairly easy.)

Damn, I checked it as well!

Given my predilection for Mark Twain, that's not a bad guess ....
... but, no.
Think more in a science-fiction direction.

Well, here's a quote from me, which is also in my signature.
"Ye and God said to Abraham, 'You will kill your son Isaac.' And Abraham said, 'I can't hear you, you'll have to speak into the microphone.' And God said, 'Oh, I'm sorry, is this better? Check-check, check. Jerry, pull the high end out, I'm still getting some hiss back here.'"
For some reason, that cracks me up so bad. lol
You also get 20 extra points of you can tell me what it's in reference to.

Uhm, if you're going to put a quote up in this game, your kinda meant to get the previous person's quote right
I think it would be a good idea to have a rule keeping any one quote from dragging on too long. For example, after three wrong guesses, maybe the use of Google could be permitted. Just a suggestion. This is Valium's thread, so it's his call.
Funny quote, Ved. I don't recognize it (or mudshark's), but it reminds me of a couple of other (http://www3.clearlight.com/~acsa/introjs.htm?/~acsa/songfile/HIGHWY61.HTM) things (http://www.clown-ministry.com/skits/Noah-skit.html). (Believe it or not, that site was the most normal source I could find for the second one....)

Ummm.........I agree with Zeke.....except maybe make it 4 incorrect guesses.....

Sorry if I hijacked your little game, Valium, not that the rules are very clear, but...get over it. I didn't have an answer for his quote anyway.

... (or mudshark's), ... From Foundation, by Asimov, spoken by Mayor Salvor Hardin of Terminus.
... but it reminds me of a couple of other (http://www3.clearlight.com/~acsa/introjs.htm?/~acsa/songfile/HIGHWY61.HTM) things (http://www.clown-ministry.com/skits/Noah-skit.html). The latter has been one of my favorites since I was a kid, though this may be transcribed from a different performance.

We show respect to fellow members here, Vedra. It is Valium's game, and he wasn't criticizing you, he was clarifying how it works. Nobody has anything to be mad about here.

I apologize, Valium. I was in a bad mood and I took your message the wrong way.
I should probably go back to not posting here like I did before.

I didn't get something about Tarn-Vedra's qoute. did you mean for us to find whoever said your qoute, or the original biblical qoute?
(If it's the latter - genesis, chapter 22)
Vedra

I wanted you to find who said it, but as an aside, I also wanted to know what if meant, as in, where did the thing about the microphone come from? I already knew where the bit about Isaac came from.

Anyway, since I don't think anyone will ever answer it, it was Stewie from Family Guy. For some reason, I found it incredibly funny.

It is rather amusing :)
And mudshark, I think Twain is very rarely a poor guess as the source of a witty quotation about life in general. He's my go-to guy in that respect :D.

Do we have a quote to be getting on with? If not then I give you this:
"These Arkansas lunkheads couldn't come up to Shakespeare"
It's a bit of a random line but someone should get it. I like this game! I will not let it die!
Erm, if we did have a quote then ignore that.

Vedra - I was just trying to clarify stuff- sorry if I was a bit tactless.... :)
I think a new rule should be that after the fourth incorrect guess (after which the poster of the unguessable quote reveals where there quote is from), it's the first person to put in a quote next..... :?:

mudshark's"Violence is the last refuge of the incompetent."
seems to be the quote up for guessing at the moment.
I have already guessed (and am out of hunches), so someone else take a stab at it. :)

^ Actually, that one was already stated above. Should be open, at this point.

This is the currently open quote I believe. Unfortunately I have no suggestions. ( George Bush Sr.? ) :)

That would be in connection with "The King's Cameleopard (or, The Royal Nonesuch)".
