Anyway, in my German courses we were taught both "bitte sehr" and "bitte schön." I tend to use the former because "danke" often comes with its own "schön," and it sounds better not to repeat it.

The Shining. My "Doctor's Orders" fiver has lots of references to it, since it was clearly one of the inspirations for that episode. By the way, if you've only seen the movie, I strongly recommend reading the book. It's
much scarier and more effective than the movie, and there are some surprising differences in the plot. Very different ending, for example. (And why they changed Room 217 to Room 237 for the film is beyond me...) But I admit there's no substitute for watching Jack Nicholson devour the scenery like a starving man.
